About the equipment

The Screenwise Router has special software that collects info about how you use the internet. The router broadcasts Wi-Fi.

We encourage you to use this router for all devices in your home so we can have an accurate representation of how your household uses the internet, mobile apps, and TVs.

For more about how info collected by the Screenwise Router is used, see the Google Panel Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.

What you receive

Screenwise Router setup includes:

  • Nokia router
  • Ethernet cable
  • Power cord
  • Setup instructions

Are your modem and router combined?

  • A modem connects to the wall by a cable. This device gives internet to your home.
  • A router broadcasts Wi-Fi in your home.
  • If you have Wi-Fi in your home and only 1 device, your modem and router are likely combined.

If your modem and router are combined, skip to Install the router.

If your modem and router are 2 separate devices, follow these steps:

  1. Disconnect any computers connected to your modem.
  2. Turn off and unplug your modem.
  3. Locate the cable connecting your modem to your router. Disconnect the cable at the router end only.

Keep your router available. You'll need to use it again if you stop participating in this panel.

Install the router

  1. If you have a DSL connection, make sure you have your ISP account name and password.
  2. On the Nokia router, plug in the power cord.
  3. Connect one end of the ethernet cable to the blue port labeled WAN/LAN and the other end to your modem.
  4. If your computer connects by ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi, connect the other end of that ethernet cable to a yellow ethernet port on your modem (labeled LAN1 or LAN2).
  5. Plug in the power cords for the Nokia router and your modem.
  6. Turn the Nokia router power switch on.

If you need more help with the router, check the Nokia Beacon 6 manual.
