Science Journal gives you the capability to record your ideas and observations through text notes, photos, and sensor recordings. It enables you to explore your world by using internal and external sensors from your own device. You do this by using the observation tool in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen after creating a new experiment.
Toolbar
In the Toolbar you’ll find the observation tools: Text Note , Sensor , Camera , and Photo Gallery .
Text Note tab
Use this to record observations, hypotheses, and comments.
Add text notes
- Tap the Text Note tab.
- Write your hypothesis, observation, or comment.
- When you’re done, tap Send .
- Find your observation in the experiment feed.
Sensor tab
Construct different ways to measure your experiments and observations.
Use the sensors of your phone
- Tap the Sensor tab .
- Select a sensor. Once you’ve selected a sensor, you will see the measurements that the phone is making in real-time.
Tip: Swipe the toolbar up or down for a better view.
Measure with multiple sensors at the same time

- Once you have selected the sensor, tap Snapshot at the bottom left.
- Find the snapshot in the experiment feed.
Create recordings
A recording will contain the data (sensor measurements, notes, observations) you make during your experiment over a period of time.
- Once you’ve selected the sensors you want to record, press Record at the bottom to start capturing data.
- You can add snapshots, notes and photos to keep track of your observations while recording.
- Press Record again to stop recording.
- Your recording will appear in your experiment feed.
- Tap the recording to see what data you’ve collected.
