Path: Definition

The “Path” fields are part of the Display URL in expanded text ads, which is typically displayed in green text below the headline and above the description. The fields give potential customers an idea of where they will end up on your site once they have clicked your ad, so the text you put in the fields should describe the product or service described in the ad in more detail. Paths are not guaranteed to show. The field is optional, and each path can have up to 15 characters.

Google Ads uses the domain from your final URL combined with your path text, if any is entered, to create the Display URL.

Example:

Find Men's Hiking Shoes – Prepare For Outdoor Adventures
www.example.com/Mens_Shoes/Outdoor
Free Express Delivery. Sign Up To Be Entered Into Our Monthly Shoe Giveaway!

In this example, www.example.com/Mens_Shoes/Outdoor is the Display URL, and Mens_Shoes and Outdoor are the path text.

Your path text doesn’t have to match the exact text of your final URL, but it should help the user understand what to expect from your landing page.
