Microsoft Advertising ad group settings

This article applies only to Microsoft Advertising accounts in the new Search Ads 360.

Adjust your ad group settings to help you tailor your ad group. The settings you select will apply to all ads within the same ad group.

Setting Description References
Ad group name This is where you enter a name for your ad group. Choose a name that clearly describes the theme of the ad group so that you can easily find it in your account. Your ad group name isn't visible to your customers.
Bidding

The default bid (Max CPC) for all keywords in the ad group. This default bid is a convenient way to manage the bids for all of the keywords in your ad group.

Set your ad group default bid
Start and end dates

Optionally specify a date range during which ads in this ad group can appear. Microsoft Advertising starts running your ad shortly after you create it unless its ad group has a start date set for a date in the future.

Ads will run indefinitely unless you set an end date or pause the ad group or campaign.

Ad rotation

If you create more than one ad in a Microsoft Advertising ad group, Microsoft Advertising can either rotate through the ads evenly or predominantly show ads that have the highest click-through rate (CTR). Click one of the following rotation options:

  • Optimize: Shows better-performing ads more frequently.

  • Rotate: Shows all ads the same amount regardless of their performance, and does so for an indefinite amount of time without ever optimizing.

If neither option is selected when you view this setting, either sync the account to see which option is currently selected in Microsoft Advertising, or choose an option and save your changes.

Locations

Overrides the campaign's location targets.

By default, ads in Microsoft Advertising campaigns are eligible to display in the United States, Canada, and other countries, but you can choose specific locations for the ads to appear.

Microsoft Advertising location targets that you create in Search Ads 360 apply to the following groups:

  • People in, or who show interest in, your targeted locations
  • People in or regularly in your targeted locations
  • People searching for your targeted locations.

To change these options for a location target, sign into Microsoft Advertising. Learn more in the Microsoft Advertising Help center .

Languages

Overrides the campaign's language targets.

The language setting determines which countries or regions the campaign’s ads are eligible to show in. Microsoft Advertising doesn’t translate your ads, so it's recommended that you write ads in the languages your customers speak and then use language targeting to make sure the right language appears to the right customers.
