Billing criteria for campaigns and reporting

As Search Ads 360 continues to expand its portfolio of supported campaign types, it is updating its billing criteria for campaign types in an effort to provide a clearer picture of your fees.

When billing starts for new campaign types

Billing for a new campaign type begins in the next month’s invoice after it meets all of the following criteria in Search Ads 360:

  • It can be fully managed (created, edited or removed) and supports reporting.
  • It supports Floodlight for measurement.
  • It supports bid optimisation for Floodlight using either the Search Ads 360 bidder or an engine bidder.

While you may not necessarily use all the features of a campaign, billing for new campaign types will begin in the next cycle after that campaign type has been fully launched and supports the abovementioned features.

For example:

The new campaign type is expected to launch in June. When it launches, campaigns can be created, edited and deleted, but it doesn’t yet support measurement or bid optimisation for Floodlight.

Later, in July, the new campaign will fully launch and support measurement and bid optimisation for Floodlight.

Search Ads 360 will begin billing for the fully launched new campaign on 1 August, and charges will be reflected in your August invoice, issued 1 September.

Campaign types eligible for billing

The following campaign types are eligible for billing:

  • Search
  • Shopping
  • Performance Max
  • Demand Gen (starting 1 February 2025)

Create a custom report for campaign spend

Instead of manually selecting the data points that you need to include, generative AI allows you to have a chat-like conversation to describe the report that you need. It’ll interpret your request and automatically generate the report. Use prompts like 'Billing report', 'Billable cost report', 'Tech fee report for [specified period]' and other relevant terms. Learn more about the AI report assistant in the report editor.
  1. Sign in to your Search Ads 360 account.
  2. Click Reports'' from the navigation menu and then select Reports from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click Custom and select a report type. We suggest that you go with 'Table'.
  4. Name your report by clicking on the pencil icon '' next to 'Untitled report' in the top-left corner of the page.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Click the pencil icon next to 'All accounts' to pick between Accounts or Account labels and then click Save.
  7. Choose a date range from the date range selector and click Apply.
  8. Click the Filter icon '' to add filters.
  9. Select from the filters below to refine by advertising platform and campaign type and to only include billable spend; then click Apply:
    • Account type: Select from 'Microsoft', 'Google Ads', 'Yahoo! Japan' and 'Baidu'.
    • Campaign type: Select from 'Search', 'Shopping', 'Performance Max' and 'Demand Gen' (only from February 2025).
Note: Google will only start charging the Demand Gen tech fee from 1 February 2025. Do not select Demand Gen as the campaign type eligible for billing if your campaign does not span this period.
Network (with search partners): Select from 'Google Search', 'Search partners' and 'Cross-network'.
  10. Select metrics and dimensions:
    • For rows:
      • Customer ID
      • Campaign type
    • For columns:
      • Cost
      • Clicks
      • Impr.
      • CTR
      • View-through conv.
  11. You can now view the custom report that is generated for billable media spend for each customer ID.
  12. You can also download the report by clicking the download icon '' . You can choose the format (for example, .csv, .pdf and so on) in which you want to download your report.

Note: Even with the filters added to the custom report, there is a chance that the report may not reflect the billable statement. For example:

  • This might happen if the account was linked in the middle of the month as the report shows details for the entire month, including the days when the account was not linked.
  • It's also possible that Search Ads 360 might start billing a certain type of campaign this month, but the report uses the same billable criteria from the previous months.

There could be other time-based changes and billable instances that are not dependent on 'Campaign types' and 'Network', which might impact the accuracy of the report. Therefore, you might find data discrepancies between the report in your account and your monthly billing statement. Always review invoices directly for the most accurate billing summary.

Missing an invoice?

If you don't find an invoice for a given month, even though your invoice settings are accurate and you have received them in the past, it's likely that your usage didn't meet the minimum billing threshold. You can search for a specific invoice to confirm its details. If no invoice appears, it means that no invoice was generated for that specific date. For further assistance, contact Google Support.
