How to provide product feedback

Help us build better products by providing feedback on your product experiences. Our teams will leverage your feedback to build better solutions for all customers. The more feedback we receive, the better our product will meet your needs.

Submit feedback through the product

If you come across a feature or a workflow that you’d like to provide immediate feedback on, you can submit it directly to our product teams by doing the following:

  1. Sign in to your product account.
  2. Click Help  at the top of the page.
  3. Click Leave feedback.
  4. Leave a detailed description of your feedback and include a screenshot (optional).
  5. Click Send.

Participate in user experience (UX) research studies

Our team of user experience researchers (UXRs) are regularly looking for customers to speak with about their experiences using our products and to test out new potential features before they are released.

To receive invitations to UX research studies

  1. Update your “Feedback and Testing” communication preferences in Google Marketing Platform User Settings.
  2. If your email is not directly associated with a product account, fill out this quick survey to help us match you to a relevant research study.

Get rewarded! After participating in an UX interview or research activity, you’ll get a small thank-you gift, such as a gift card or a donation to your favorite charity. We'll always tell you what the reward will be before you decide whether to participate.

What is UX research and why is it important?

UX research builds better products. UX research is a systematic approach aimed at closing the gap between what customers need and what the product is currently offering. Researchers take the time to get to know the people using their products, then leverage this knowledge to innovate and to help guide product development.

UX researchers work closely with their product teams and UX design partners to create experiences that are useful, usable, and empowering.

What types of research will I be invited to?

Our team uses a variety of research methods to obtain customer feedback. Here are the most common methods used:

  • Remote usability study
In these studies, we’ll gather your feedback via a video conferencing session with a researcher or a website where you can try something out on your own. You can be almost anywhere in the world, but you’ll need to have a high-speed Internet connection.
  • Experiential sampling study (also known as Diary Studies)
These studies require a small amount of activity every day for several days or weeks. Google researchers will ask you to respond to questions or take notes about your experience of using a product, and you’ll do everything on your own mobile phone, tablet, or laptop.
  • Surveys
For these studies, we’ll send you a survey form to fill out. Please note that we don’t typically offer a gift for participating in a survey.

What’s the time commitment?

In usability studies, you’ll typically spend between 60 and 90 minutes with a Google researcher. This will almost always be during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM). Most surveys will take less than 10 minutes to complete, but we may send larger surveys a couple times a year to measure your overall satisfaction.

How soon and how often will you contact me?

We can't guarantee that we’ll invite you to participate in a study. And even if we do invite you, it may not be right away. For example, we may not have a match for you now, but we may contact you in 9 months when we launch a new study that seems to be a perfect fit. We’ll always do our best to match you to the most relevant studies for your account based on the features you use (or don’t use) and not overwhelm you with invitations.

If I sign up, will you send me spam or sell my information to other companies?

No. Any information provided is kept confidential in accordance with Google's privacy policy. We (or an outside agency working on our behalf, in accordance with our privacy policy) will only contact you if we want to invite you to participate in a study.
