A hands-on lab, also referred to as a “lab”, is a learning experience in Qwiklabs where you complete a scenario based use case by following a set of instructions in a specified amount of time in an interactive hands-on environment. Labs are completed in the real GCP console, as opposed to a simulation or demo environment.
Most labs require credits to access, however there are a number of free introductory labs available as well.

Types of Labs
You can identify Challenge labs by the lab title. Each will have Challenge Lab within the name of the lab.
Self-Paced Lab
A self-paced lab provides a hands-on, guided experience in an interactive Cloud environment. In this type of lab, you are provided with a series of steps to walk you through how to interact with an environment to achieve an outcome.
Challenge Lab
A challenge lab is a hands-on lab that does not provide prescriptive steps, and instead requires solutions to be built with minimal guidance. Challenge labs are stand-alone units in the learning catalog, and may also be an assessment in a Qwiklabs course.
