Create, view & open files with Quickoffice

We are no longer making Quickoffice available for download. To work with Microsoft® Office files, install the newest versions of the DocsSheets, and Slides apps from Google Play on your Android phone or tablet, or the Docs, Sheets, and Slides apps from the App Store for your iPhone or iPad. Open files and email attachments with Quickoffice

To create a new file, touch the plus icon in the top right corner of the screen. A menu will appear that allows you to select the type of file you'd like to create. The latest version of Quickoffice can create documents in 2007-2010 MS Office formats.

To open a file, touch the file's name in the Quickoffice file manager or touch the email attachment from your favorite email application.

Open Google documents in Quickoffice

Quickoffice only supports editing of Office files. You'll need the Google Drive app to edit a Google document from Quickoffice.

Open password protected files in Quickoffice

Quickoffice will open certain types of password protected files, depending on your device.

If you're using an iPhone or iPad, you can open .doc, .xls, and .ppt password protected files.
If you're using an Android tablet or phone, you can open .pdf password protected files.

Change how you view documents in Quickoffice

You can customize the way files are displayed on your tablet or phone screen in Quickoffice using touchscreen gestures.

Zoom in and out with Quickoffice

Use the pinch zoom gesture to zoom in and out while viewing a document, spreadsheet, or presentation. Place two fingers on your device screen and move them together to zoom out, or move them apart to zoom in.

Drag the view area

If what you need to see in your document, spreadsheet, or presentation isn't currently visible, you can drag the document to view other areas. Place a finger anywhere on the document and move your finger in the opposite direction that you'd like to move the camera to drag the view area.

Additional view options for Android tablets and phones

View wrapped text or whole pages in documents on Android phones

As you zoom in or out of a document, you may notice that text automatically wraps to fit the size of your screen so that you do not need to drag the document horizonally to read text. Some formatting options are not available in reading view, so you may want to switch to page view.

Here's how to change the way your Android phone displays a document:

  1. Touch the Menu button on your phone
  2. Touch the page view icon
  3. Touch the reading view icon to switch back to reading view

Tip: While using page view, you can touch the view whole page icon to fit the page width to your screen.

View & edit multiple documents at the same time with Android tablets

You can have many documents open at once on Android tablets. Touch the multiple document icon to launch the Quickoffice multiple document viewer. From this screen, you can open, create, switch, and close documents, spreadsheets & presentations in Quickoffice. If you have many documents open at once, you can swipe this screen horizontally to see more open files.

Here's how you can work with multiple files at once in Quickoffice:

  • Touch a document thumbnail to view that file
  • Touch + to open or create a new file. This will launch the Quickoffice file manager screen.
  • Touch x next to a document name to close the file. Quickoffice will ask you to save the file if you've made any changes.
