How to fix a broken thumbnail image in onsite search?

Hi,
We have one page in which the thumbnail image keeps coming back as an error in the google search (https://www.sayulitalife.com/googleresults?q=luna+llena). We have tried everything, changing the photo, re-do the page, reindexing in Google search console but it doesn't get corrected. If googled the image in google.com it finds it correctly, so I'm not sure why we cannot get this display correctly on the site.
Our developers cannot figure out either what is the problem, so we are out of ideas. Can you please help us to get this corrected?

To have more control on thumbnail images in your Programmable search engine results, would recommend to specify your own thumbnails by using pagemap or metatags in <head> section of your pages and get these pages reindexed. To specify your own thumbnail, refer the documentation:
Once you have specified your thumbnails, you will have to get your pages reindexed. For faster reindexing, create a sitemap of your updated pages and submit to Google Search Console. To create sitemap, refer the documentation:
Accessed your site your website and Programmable Search Engine control panel and performed search and was able to see the problem which you have reported. The same is been displayed when searching on Google.com results.
Once the Thumbnail option is enabled in which thumbnails images are picked from Google image server. If images are up-to-date in Google image server, you will see the correct images in thumbnails.

Hi,
Can the issue be that the thumbnails are being stored on a different server (Cloudinary)? Our coders have no idea how to fix this, as they say it is from google's side.
Our coders followed the instructions but after applying the steps, the thumbnails were lost from most of the search results or showing a "back up" image. They indexed the page and this was the results, what is causing this and how we can fix this? (e.g.https://www.sayulitalife.com/googleresults?q=luna+llena or any search you make on the site.. only a few of the results show the thumbnail image)

thumbnail meta tag which does not have any content added:<meta name="thumbnail" content="" />

Page like https://www.sayulitalife.com/whats_new is a only for mobile site and is not relevant to the problem here with the search results.
Can you please check the page , https://www.sayulitalife.com/lunallena, it has a correct metatag but it still doesn't show the thumbnail correctly?
The problem is, that after our coder did according to the instructions in the first response most of the thumbnails on the site got lost from the search results.

Is there any way to get an answer or any support in this question? we are still facing the same problem and this cannot be continued. It has been impossible to find any info about how this could be fixed or what is causing this.
