0
if i search something, most of the times all 10 results shows up from same domain
which is unfair to others.
how can i restrict one or two urls per domain so that other domains also get a chance to come in the result?

Hi Augusta,

When you perform search on your Programmable Search Engine, it will serve results from all the sites configured in your 'Sites to search' configuration of your PSE control panel.

If you want to serve results from a particular site among all your sites configured in 'Sites to search' configuration, you can consider creating "Refinement Label" from search engine control panel > Search features > Refinements. which let users filter results according to categories you configure. Please review the documents below to understand Refinement Label:

No, what im asking is...
if i have 100 domains and out of which 1-2 are high volume, high ranking domains.
if i search with a keyword, the search results bring up 10 URLs from same domain

eg:
if i search for "coloring book"

the search results bring up

domainA.com/coloring-book01.html
domainA.com/coloring-book02.html
domainA.com/coloring-book03.html
domainA.com/coloring-book04.html
domainA.com/coloring-book05.html
domainA.com/coloring-book06.html
domainA.com/coloring-book07.html
domainA.com/coloring-book08.html
domainA.com/coloring-book09.html
domainA.com/coloring-book10.html

of course domainA has more relevant content with multiple URLs
but its unfair for rest of the domain who are pushed to page 2

instead how can i tell gse to show max 2 URLs from each domain so that the results would be fair like

domainA.com/coloring-book01.html
domainA.com/coloring-book02.html
domainB.com/kids-coloring-book.html
domainC.com/beginner-coloring-book.html
domainF.com/princess-coloring-book.html
domainK.com/animal-coloring-book.html
domainB.com/coloring-painting-book.html
domainK.com/coloring-book-for-juniors.html

so a max of 2 URLs which are "most relevant from each domain" can show up.

it might be a wrong approach for google global search engine
for customized search engine, it would be great if we can have more search engine rules and configurations

Hi Augusta,

The configuration which you are looking for is not available with PSE.

You can consider creating "Promotions" from PSE control panel > Search features > Promotions to display a specific link at the top of search results and display the URLs which you want your user to see:

The other thing which you can consider is creating 'Refinement' Labels from PSE control panel > Search features > Refinement. Refinement let users filter results according to categories you provide:

Search Features > Advanced > Filter = True
(Automatic filtering of search results that look similar.)

I hope this is close to my requirement
but still adding more rules would be better

Hi Augusta,

In an effort to provide the best search results possible, Google uses this 'Filter' techniques to automatically filter search results that are generally considered undesirable i.e duplicate content—If multiple documents contain the same information, then only the most relevant document of that set is included in your search results. There is no guarantee that only 2 URLs from a domain will be displayed and there is no way to control this.

Having said that have forwarded your feedback to the concern team.

Thanks
