Simple answer is "No". There are many groups looking to make it happen, so far nothing commercial.

The best information we have is comtained here in:

We are are a group of chromebook enthusiasts lookingtohelp the chromebook community. We have no access to Google's internal development schedules. Patience is however recommended.

You can buy a USB stick or an SD card at any local computer store. Stay away from those made by SanDisk as they don't really play well on a chromebook.

Nothing will happen to the chromebook. I leave mine plugged in all the time.

What version of ChromeOS are you using?

Joel Magid
Sandisk includes proprietary backup and encryption software on some of their USB drives. That software is not compatible with Chromebooks.

If you used the drive and software on a Windows/Mac computer, you cannot use the drive on your Chromebook.

You can, however, erase the drive and reformat it into a universally-compatible format. This will wipe anything that is currently stored on the drive, so copy it all to a Windows/Mac computer before proceeding!

Follow these steps:
  • Insert the USB drive into your Chromebook
  • Open the Recovery app
  • Click on the little gray cog icon
  • Select "Erase recovery media" and then select the USB drive
  • When that finishes (it just takes a few seconds), open the Files app.
  • In the left column, you should see the USB drive.
  • Right-click on it and select "Format device"
  • That will take a bit of time depending on the size of the drive
  • Once the formatting completes, it should be able to be used in the Chromebook and other devices.

Can you tell us the make and model of your chromebook as well as the version of ChromeOS you are using?

Joel Magid

Sounds like a loose connection. Local repair shop should be able to fix. If under warranty contact your supplier.

Try using the website directly. The Android app is not compatible with ChromeO/S. Also a note to the developers may help for future reference.

Install Google Photos on your chromebook as well on your phone.

You then have access to the photos from either device as well as not having space consumed on the chromebook or phone.

No need for wires here.

Is this a chromebook belonging to the school or your own?
Welcome to the forum

If you're not finding Linux-beta on settings, your chromebook does not support Linux.

The short answer is NO. What may have happened is that you somehow reset the device and it became well only from the reset.

Tell us the make and model of the device and run the battery test again.  Post here the results.
