Reply to Appointment Reminder/confirmation
Google Calendar•3/11/2025
Hi Service Dovers & Daughters,
Are you using Appointment Schedules, or the 'normal' event creation?
Assuming the latter (you create an event and you invite the person): unless you're using a 3rd party add-on to send reminders, the way Google Calendar works is that you as the event organiser can't 'force' reminders on anyone - any reminders will be what the recipient has set up for themselves.
For example, if you invited 'Bob', 'Doreen' & 'Mary' to an event, Bob might have set up reminders so that he's informed 30 minutes before your event, Doreen might receive one an hour before the event, and Mary might not receive a reminder at all - it's all down to what the end user wants.
Patrick
PS Having seen your website, I don't think you'll be using Appointment Schedules, i.e. letting people book their own appointments!

Hi User-lots-of-digits,
Please ask your wife to open the event she created and make sure that it is in the shared calendar.
Because events are created in a user's OWN calendar by default, the issue with missing events is usually because the event has been created in the wrong calendar.
If it IS in the wrong calendar, your wife should be able to easily edit the event and change the calendar to the correct one.
Please let us know how you get on.

Hi Skylar,
The Google Calendar app only typically syncs approximately 12 months either side of today - so you are fortunate that you at least have 2 years' worth of events in the app.
Fortunately, the desktop version of Calendar doesn't have this restriction - so if you go to https://calendar.google.com, you'll see all your events.

Google Calendar•3/6/2025
Hi Cen-Tex Crane,
Are you using Appointment Schedules, or just creating events/tasks in the usual Google Calendar format?
If the former, I'm afraid it's not possible to create duplicate events, so please use the 'Send feedback' option to let the team know you'd like to be able to do so.
If the latter, you should be able to create multiple events and tasks at the same time.
Please let us know how you get on.

Jim,
Do you receive any error messages?
Do you have another browser on your computer which you could use to log on to https://calendar.google.com? Does it work there?
If it does, it could be that your browser cache has got corrupted, and clearing the cache may resolve the issue.

Reply to Delete tasks option
Google Calendar•3/2/2025
Hi Dick,
Unfortunately, there's no option to remove Tasks.
Please use the 'Send feedback' option to let the team know you'd like this as an option. If enough people request this, there's a chance it will be added to the development roadmap.
In the meantime, if your wife uses Day, Week or Month view and taps on the screen at the time she wants, it will open up the 'Create' dialog and will default to Event - so, no need to worry about accidentally tapping the wrong event type.

Google Calendar•2/26/2025
Hi Robin,
The Google Calendar Android app has always had a restriction on how much data it syncs. When it was first introduced, I think it was valid - phones had very small disk space, so the developers wouldn't have wanted to fill the phone with Calendar events which probably weren't needed any longer.
Now, however, for most phone space isn't an issue. Please use the 'Send feedback' option to let the team know you'd like the option to sync longer time periods.
In the meantime, all your data will be in the desktop version of Calendar - https://calendar.google.com.

Hi boyd,
I'm no doubt missing something, but I'm not sure how anything could be easier than the Duplicate option - that often means I only need to change the date of the event.
In what way do you think it could be easier?
Patrick
Google Calendar•2/26/2025
Hi Michela,
In the desktop version of Google Calendar (https://calendar.google.com), you should be able to see all your events - I've got events going back to 2006 on mine.
Are you not seeing your old events - or are you trying to find the best way to search for them?

Google Calendar•2/20/2025
Hi again,
"It seems so silly that Google allows only 12 months of the Calendar data to be seen on the new mobile!"
Starting with your last point: I tend to agree. I think this has been the case since they first developed a mobile app - and in those days, the amount of disk space on phones was probably quite small, so restricting the number of events being synced probably made sense. These days, most phones have much bigger disks, so this isn't an issue any longer.
However (and there's always one of those!), not everyone's phone is 128GB or larger. I'm working with someone who's got a 16GB phone which currently has 5GB free, so she probably wouldn't be happy to have her phone filled with old events she's not interested in.
Consequently, in my ideal world, Google Calendar would offer different sync durations, and an estimate of how much space that would take - so if I had a phone with little disk space, I could select 12 months' worth of syncing and at the other extreme someone could choose to have everything synced. Oh, and before anyone mentions it, I realise that different years might have a different number of events, so the clever developers would need to be able to estimate how much space would be needed!
"I would like all of my earlier data in the Calendar to be migrated and
seen on my new mobile phone. Can you please let me know how one can do
that ?"
Unfortunately, you can't do that in the mobile app. Unless you and enough others request this, it probably won't make the short list!
In the meantime, if you open the desktop version (https://calendar.google.com) in your mobile's browser, you'll be able to see all your events.

Hi User lots-of-digits,
The official Google Calendar app only syncs approximately 12 months either side of today; however, that doesn't mean your events are lost - you should see them in the desktop version of Calendar - https://calendar.google.com
If you'd like that functionality changed, please use the 'Send feedback' option to let the team know.

Reply to Trying to remove mlb teams from my calendar and add synca new team - the mlb don’t know how to do it
Google Calendar•2/19/2025
Hi Janice,
Sorry for the delayed reply.
How did you add the events to your calendar - did you add a) a particular mlb calendar, or did you b) import the events into your own calendar?
If the answer is a), you should see the name of it on the left-hand side of the screen and you should be able to unsubscribe from it.
If, on the other hand, you imported the matches into your own calendar, it's not going to be easy - you might be quicker simply manually removing the unwanted events.

Hi Jazzer Fred,
I don't ever print my calendar; however, looking at it, it looks as if it will show you the name of the calendar(s) you have selected.
Unfortunately, I can't see any way of changing or deselecting that.
Please use the 'Send feedback' option to let the team know you'd like that changed.

Hi Sanna,
Using the desktop version of Google Calendar (https://calendar.google.com):
- put your mouse over the name of your calendar and click on the 3 dots which appear
- select Settings and sharing
- scroll down the page and make any changes to Event notifications and All-day event notifications
- repeat as necessary for other calendars
Please let us know how you get on.

Hi Lorenzo,
If you were wanting to delete ALL the events in your Primary calendar (the first calendar which was created when you opened your account, and which might have your name in it), I would've said, you're in luck: as it's not possible to delete your Primary calendar, choosing that option will only delete all events.
However... if you want to only delete all old events, there's no inbuilt functionality within Google Calendar to do so. A third-party app (for example GCalToolkit written by one of the volunteers in the community) should be able to remove them for you.
Please let us know how you get on.

Hi Edmund,
Do you have another browser you can use to go to https://calendar.google.com and see if it works OK?
If not, try opening a Private/Incognito window and go to the same link and let us know if that works.
If it does, clearing your browser cache should resolve the problem.

Reply to Can’t add guests
Google Calendar•2/4/2025
Dale,
Unfortunately I can't explain why - just that events which come from Gmail are 'locked' and don't allow this.
I usually get around this by duplicating the event, which should then allow you to add guests.
That's a far from ideal solution, I accept! Please use the 'Send feedback' option to let the team know you need the ability to add guests.

Hi soducoue,
At the top of the screen, to the right of where it currently says 'February', you should see a magnifying glass, and to the right of that, a box which currently says '2'.
The 2 signifies the current month, and clicking on it will take you back to February.
Please let us know if you're able to see that.

Hi Suzie,
If ShrutNM's suggestions don't work, can you have a look at the Apple calendar (and any other calendars you have on your device).
The notifications look 'strange', which makes me wonder if they're coming from another app.
The Google Calendar app will look for other events on your app and display them in the app - but not sync them with the desktop version of Calendar. Something which might be a useful test would be to open the desktop version of Google Calendar (https://calendar.google.com) and see if those events are also shown there, and with the same notifications.

Hi User lots-of-digits,
Unfortunately, it's still not possible to share your tasks - see this Help Centre article.
Please use the 'Send feedback' option to let the team know you need this functionality.
In the meantime, if you and your assistant use Google Chrome, you could use an extension such as this one to handle your tasks. Note that there are both free and paid-for versions of this extension.

Hi Amit,
Unfortunately, I can't explain why this might have happened.
As I'm sure you'll have determined, you've got two options: rename and add permissions to the one with the original name, or add events to the new calendar.
I would export the events from 'bad name' calendar (see this Help Centre article for details), and once you have the .ics file, follow these instructions to import the events.
Before you start, do you know roughly how many events are in the calendar? Is it tens, hundreds, or thousands of events? The reason I ask is that there is a maximum import size of 1MB.
For info, I've just done an export of my calendars, and my main one is just under 4MB in size; however, it's worth pointing out that I've been using Google Calendar since 2006 so I've got a lot of years' worth of events!
Please let us know what the size of your exported file is. If it's <1MB, great - just import it. If, however, it's >1MB, we can probably suggest options to split the file.
Re-reading my answer, you might be thinking you prefer the first option! Even if you decide to rename the original file (and I would suggest changing the name very slightly - just in case you decide you want to work with the 'no events' calendar), I'd strongly suggest doing an export of your calendar. There's a certain law which means that if you have a backup, you'll never need it! :-)
