How Google Accounts work on Fitbit Ace LTE when children turn 13

Fitbit Ace LTE is designed to be used by children under the age of 13 with a Google Account that is managed by their parent with Family Link.

When children whose accounts are managed with Family Link turn 13, they can decide to:

  • Manage their own Google Account
  • Set up parental supervision for children over 13

Tips:

  • Children over 13 who had supervision added to their account can choose to stop supervision at any time.
  • To remove supervision, your child must have a full Google Account with an email address and password.

What happens when my child turns 13?

When children whose accounts are managed with Family Link are about to turn 13, the child and their family manager will get an email to ask if the child’s account should continue to be a managed account. Learn more about how Google Accounts work when children turn 13.

After a child turns 13, there are 2 options to choose from:

  • The child now manages their own Google Account.

  • The child’s account continues to be managed with parental supervision.

If the child chooses to manage their own account, the following will occur:

  • The payment method that was set up on the watch will be automatically removed and you will receive a notification on the Fitbit Ace app.

  • The child’s pre-13 year old Wallet user data and transaction history will also be removed from their watch.

  • The child can enable tap-and-pay once again on the Watch by adding a card on their own. Learn how to add a card to your smartwatch.

Changes to Fitbit Ace LTE
