Safety Warnings

Handling

Handle your Nest Doorbell with care. You may damage the device or the battery if you disassemble, drop, bend, burn, crush, or puncture your device. Nest Doorbell and its charge cable are designed to work best in ambient temperatures between -4°F and 104°F (-20°C and 40°C) , and should be stored between ambient temperatures of -4°F and 176°F (-20°C and 80°C). Do not expose Nest Doorbell to temperatures above 176°F (80°C) as this may damage the doorbell, overheat the battery, or pose a risk of fire.

Repair & Service

Don’t attempt to repair your Nest Doorbell yourself. Disassembling the device may result in loss of water resistance or cause injury or damage to your device.

Powering / Charging

Your device is designed to be wall-mounted. Install in accordance with local building and installation regulations, using a base plate, wall screws, and wall anchors suited for your wall type. If connecting Nest Doorbell to existing wiring, turn off power to the doorbell before installation and only use the wire connector provided as not doing so may cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to the device or other property. Be sure the charge cable and device are well ventilated when in use. Using a damaged charge cable or using it when moisture is present can cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to the device or other property. Do not expose your device to liquids, which can cause a short circuit and overheating. If the device gets wet, do not attempt to dry it using an external heat source. Do not charge the device when it is wet or in direct sunlight.

When charging, make sure the charge cable is easily accessible. This product is intended  to be charged with a certified Limited Power Source (LPS) per IEC 60950-1 / IEC 62368-1, with rated output: 5 VDC, 1.5 A. Only charge your Nest Doorbell with the included charge cable. Failure to use the charge cable included can cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to the device.

Child Safety

This device is not a toy. Your Nest Doorbell may come with small parts, plastic, glass, or metal elements, and parts with sharp edges that may cause an injury or create a choking hazard. Children have strangled on cords and cables. Keep the Nest Doorbell cables out of the reach of children (more than 3 feet / 1 meter away) and do not allow them to play with the device and its accessories. They could hurt themselves or others, or could accidentally damage the device.

Battery

This device contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which is a sensitive component that can cause injury if damaged. Do not attempt to remove the battery. Contact Google or a Google authorized service provider to replace the battery, or if dropped and you suspect it is damaged.  Replacement by non-qualified professionals can damage your device. Improper replacement or use of a non-qualified battery may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazard. Do not modify or remanufacture/refurbish the battery, puncture or attempt to insert objects into the battery, immerse or expose the battery to water or other liquids, or expose the battery to fire, excessive heat, and/or other hazards.

Disposal, Transportation, & Recycling

Dispose of and transport your device, batteries and accessories according to local environmental and transportation regulations. Do not improperly transport them or dispose of them in normal household waste. Improper disposal or transport may lead to fire, explosion, and/or other hazards. Medical Device Interference

Your device uses radios and other components that emit electromagnetic fields, and also contains magnets.  These electromagnetic fields and magnets may interfere with pacemakers and other implanted medical devices. Always keep the Nest Doorbell at a safe distance away from pacemakers or other implanted medical devices. If you have questions about using your Google device with or near your pacemaker or other implanted medical devices, consult your healthcare provider before using your Nest Doorbell. If you suspect your Nest Doorbell is interfering with your pacemaker or other implanted medical devices, turn off your Google device and consult your physician for information specific to your medical device.

Radio Frequency Exposure

This device has been evaluated and meets the applicable regulatory requirements for exposure to radio waves and is designed and manufactured not to exceed the applicable emission limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy.To comply with applicable RF exposure compliance requirements, a distance of at least 20 cm should be maintained between the antenna of this device and persons during device operation.

LEDs

The LEDs visible on your device are safe under reasonably foreseeable conditions per the requirements in IEC 62471. However, it is recommended that you do not direct the LEDs at anyone’s eyes.

Proper Handling and Usage

Follow these guidelines when using, storing or cleaning of your Nest Doorbell

Operating Temperature

Do not use or charge the Nest Doorbell, at ambient temperatures lower than -4 °F (-20 °C), or higher than 104 °F  (40 °C). If the interior temperature of the device exceeds normal operating temperatures, you may experience the following behaviors while the device tries to regulate its temperature: reduced performance and connectivity, inability to charge, or powering down of the display or device power down. You may not be able to use the device while it regulates its temperature. Move the device to a cooler (or warmer) location and wait a few minutes before attempting to use it again.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug Nest Doorbell and power adapter / charger before cleaning. Do not clean Nest Doorbell while it is charging as this may cause injury or damage to your device. Avoid solvent and abrasive material that may cause damage to the product surface. Do not use any chemical detergent, powder, or other chemical agents (such as benzene) to clean Nest Doorbell or accessories.

To clean the Nest Doorbell we recommend gently wiping it with a soft, lint-free cloth. Use a dry cloth for streaks, smudges or dust.

To disinfect your Nest Doorbell, you can use ordinary household disinfecting wipes or 70% isopropyl alcohol-based wipes. Don’t use wipes that have bleach.

Water Resistance

Your Nest Doorbell is weather  resistant in accordance with its IP54 rating,  but it is not waterproof.  Weather  resistance is not a permanent condition and may be compromised by normal wear and tear, repair, disassembly, or damage. Don’t expose your Nest Doorbell to liquids, which can cause a short circuit and overheating. The device charger cable is not water resistant and should not be exposed to liquids.

Service & Support

Unauthorized repairs or modifications could result in permanent damage to the device, and may affect your warranty coverage and regulatory authorizations. Your Nest Doorbell should only be repaired by Google or a Google authorized service provider.

If you send your Nest Doorbell  in for service, you might receive a replacement in place of your original device. Goods presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods of the same type rather than being repaired.  Refurbished parts may be used to repair the goods. If the goods are capable of retaining user-generated data then the repair or replacement may result in loss of the data.
