Handling

Handle your Nest Cam with care. You may damage the device or the battery if you disassemble, drop, bend, burn, crush, or puncture your device. Do not use Nest Cam with a cracked front cover, glass lens or damaged enclosure body. Do not expose your Nest Cam to liquids, which can cause a short circuit and overheating. If Nest Cam gets wet, do not attempt to dry it using an external heat source.Your Nest Cam is designed to work best in ambient temperatures between –4° and 104° F (–20° and 40° C), and should be stored between ambient temperatures of -4° and 140° F (-20° and 60° C). Do not expose Nest Cam to temperatures above 140° F (60° C) as this may damage Nest Cam, overheat the battery, or pose a risk of fire.

Your device is designed to be wall-mounted. Install in accordance with local building and installation regulations, using a wall plate, magnetic plate, wall screws and anchors suited for your wall type. Keep camera and all components out of reach of children and pets.  Install no more than 2m (6.5ft) above the floor. If mounted higher, and the camera falls, it could potentially cause harm unless it is permanently secured in place. See g.co/nestcam/setup for additional wall-mount instructions.

Contact customer service if Nest Cam isn’t working properly or has been damaged: g.co/nest/support

Powering/Charging

Your device is designed to be wall-mounted or set on the Nest Cam stand (not included). If wall mounting, install in accordance with local building and installation regulations, using a wall plate, magnetic plate, wall screws and anchors suited for your wall type. Keep the camera and all components out of reach of children and pets. Install no more than 2m (6.5ft) above the floor. Be sure the power adapter, charging cable, and Nest Cam are well ventilated when in use or charging. Using a damaged Nest Cam, damaged charge cable, or power adapter, or charging when moisture or debris is present, may cause overheating, fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to your Nest Cam or other property. Avoid charging your device in direct sunlight.

When charging the device, make sure the power adapter is plugged into a power outlet near the device and is easily accessible. When disconnecting the power adapter from a power outlet, pull on the adapter, never on the charging cable. Don’t twist or pinch the cable, and don’t force a connector into a port. If you receive a message while charging that instructs you to unplug the charging device or power adapter, disconnect the charging device or power adapter. Before attempting to power up again, make sure both the power adapter charging cable connector and the device's input power charging ports are dry and clear of any objects.

This device comes with an AC adapter that has appropriate certifications.

Nest Cam must be used and or charged with a Class II certified Limited Power Source (LPS) output per IEC 60950-1 and/or PS2 classified output per IEC 62368-1, rated: 5 Volts DC 1.5 A Max. Only charge Nest Cam with the included cable or compatible charging accessories, which are available on the Google Store or at Google authorized resellers (look for Google’s “made for” badge). Failure to use compatible charging accessories can cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to Nest Cam and the accessories.

Child Safety

This device is not a toy. Your Nest Cam may come with small parts, plastic, glass, or metal elements, and parts with sharp edges that may cause an injury or create a choking hazard. Children have strangled on cords and cables. Keep the Nest Cam cables out of the reach of children (more than 3 feet/1 meter away) and do not allow them to play with the device and its accessories. They could hurt themselves or others, or could accidentally damage the device.

Battery

This device contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which is a sensitive component that can cause injury if damaged. Do not attempt to remove the battery. Contact Google or a Google authorized service provider to replace the battery, or if dropped and you suspect it is damaged. Replacement by non-qualified professionals can damage your device. Improper replacement or use of a non-qualified battery may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazard. Do not modify or remanufacture/refurbish the battery, puncture or attempt to insert objects into the battery, immerse or expose the battery to water or other liquids, or expose the battery to fire, excessive heat, and/or other hazards.

Disposal, Transportation, & Recycling

Dispose of and transport your device, batteries and accessories according to local environmental and transportation regulations. Do not improperly transport them or dispose of them in normal household waste. Improper disposal or transport may lead to fire, explosion, and/or other hazards. Do not open, crush, heat above 113 ̊F (45 ̊C), or incinerate. For more information on recycling your device, batteries and accessories, visit g.co/nest recycle.

Medical Device Interference

Your device uses radios and other components that emit electromagnetic fields, and also contains magnets. These electromagnetic fields and magnets may interfere with pacemakers and other implanted medical devices. Always keep Nest Cam at a safe distance away from pacemakers or other implanted medical device. If you have questions about using your Google device with or near your pacemaker or other implanted medical devices, consult your healthcare provider before using your Nest Cam. If you suspect your Nest Cam is interfering with your pacemaker or other implanted medical devices, turn off your Google device and consult your physician for information specific to your medical device.

RF Exposure

This device has been evaluated and meets the applicable regulatory requirements for exposure to radio waves and is designed and manufactured not to exceed the permissible radio frequency (RF) exposure limits.. To comply with applicable RF exposure compliance requirements, a distance of at least 20 cm should be maintained between the antenna of this device and persons during device operation.

LEDs

The LEDs visible on your device are safe under reasonably foreseeable conditions per the requirements in IEC 62471. However, it is recommended that you do not direct the LEDs at anyone’s eyes.

Proper Handling and Usage

Follow these guidelines when using, storing or cleaning of your Nest Cam.

Operating Temperature

Do not use or charge the Nest Cam, at ambient temperatures lower than -4 °F (-20 °C), or higher than 104 °F (40 °C). If the interior temperature of the device exceeds normal operating temperatures, you may experience the following behaviors while the device tries to regulate its temperature: reduced performance and connectivity, inability to charge, or powering down of the display or device power down. You may not be able to use the device while it regulates its temperature. Move the device to a cooler (or warmer) location and wait a few minutes before attempting to use it again.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug Nest Cam and power adapter/charger before cleaning. Do not clean Nest Cam while it is charging as this may cause injury or damage to your device. Avoid solvent and abrasive material that may cause damage to the product surface. Do not use any chemical detergent, powder, or other chemical agents (such as benzene) to clean Nest Cam or accessories.

To clean Nest Cam we recommend gently wiping it with a soft, lint-free cloth. Use a dry cloth for streaks, smudges or dust.

To disinfect your Nest Cam, you can use ordinary household disinfecting wipes or 70% isopropyl alcohol-based wipes. Don’t use wipes that have bleach.

Water Resistance

Your Nest Cam is weather resistant in accordance with its IP54 rating, but it is not waterproof. Weather resistance is not a permanent condition and may be compromised by normal wear and tear, repair, disassembly, or damage. Don’t expose your Nest Cam to liquids, which can cause a short circuit and overheating. The device charger cable is not water resistant and should not be exposed to liquids.

Service & Support

Unauthorized repairs or modifications could result in permanent damage to the device, and may affect your warranty coverage and regulatory authorizations. Your Nest Cam should only be repaired by Google or a Google authorized service provider.
