Set up ads in Google Play Newsstand

There are various ways to monetize content in Google Play Newsstand. By default, Google monetizes some of your content for you by showing Google-managed ads in your articles. You also have the option to set up your edition to show ads from your own inventory. In either case, you must configure Producer to ensure your ads are correctly set up and you get paid.

Add payment information for Google-managed ads

Google serves ads automatically in your edition based on the agreement you made when signing up for Newsstand. If you do not plan to manage your own ads in your edition, then you still must let Google know how to pay you for the earnings generated from these ads:

  1. Sign in to Google Newsstand Producer.

  2. Click Ads.

  3. Under Earnings, select an AdSense or Ad Exchange (AdX) account to which Google can send your earnings.

    1. If you already have an AdSense or AdX account: Select the account where you’d like your earnings to be deposited.

    2. If you don’t see your AdSense or AdX account: Sign in to Producer using the Google Account associated with your AdSense or AdX account.

    3. If you don’t have an AdSense or AdX account: Create an AdSense account. Then, complete steps 1 and 3a to set up your new account in Producer.

  4. Change the "Percentage of ads managed by Google" to 100 if you don’t want to include ads from your own inventory. Increasing this number helps maximize the number of ads displayed in your content.

  5. Click Update.

If you don’t plan to serve ads from your own inventory within your Newsstand edition, you’re done! Google pays you automatically for your share of earnings from the ads shown in your content.

You can see payment stats directly in your AdSense or AdX account. Note: Platform-specific restrictions may apply (see respective help documentation linked).
