Pointy for pcAmerica

Pointy is available as a free download direct to your point of sale system for applicable POS integrations.

Download Pointy and scan your products as normal to add them to your product catalog and to your Google Business Profile. They will also have a better opportunity of showing up in product-related searches on Google.

An optional premium feature is ProductAds, where you can create ads for all your products in two clicks.

Note: In order for Pointy to work for your store, you must be using UPC/EAN barcodes on your products.

How to install Pointy (for retailers)

Step One: Contact your pcAmerica POS dealer

  1. Contact your dealer to begin the setup process.
    1. Ask your dealer to enable the Central API and the Pointy integration. 
    2. Invite the dealer to contact heartland_dealers@google.com if they are not familiar with Pointy. 

Step Two: Enable API

  1. Once your dealer has enabled the integration and generated CAPI credentials you will receive an email with a username and password.
  2. On your POS go to Setup  | Setup Screen.
  3. Click the Internet Features tab, and then select Page 3 to access Central API. 
  4. Enter https://hpos.heartland.us/api in the URL box, enter the values you received in the email for Username and Password, then click Connect.
  5. If connection is successful, the button will turn green and read Connected. 
  6. Click Update to save changes and Exit to close. 

Please note: You need only do this configuration at the file or store server, and not at the workstations.

  1. Your Pointy page will be created, and an email verification will be sent to you.

Existing Pointy retailers

I am already using a Pointy device. How do I switch over to using Pointy with the pcAmerica integration?

  1. Contact your dealer to begin the setup process.
    1. Ask your dealer to enable the Central API and the Pointy integration.
  2. Contact support@pointy.com to request your API key and connect your current Pointy account to the pcAmerica integration.
    1. The email should include your store name and address and a brief explanation of your query eg. “I would like to connect my current Pointy account to the pcAmerica integration and request my API key”
  3. Retailer reaches out to orders@heartland.us with store details ( name, address and phone number) and API key to complete the integration.

FAQ

1. What information/data does Pointy receive when I connect it to my POS?

Pointy integrates with your POS by collecting all of your products' barcode numbers (UPC/EAN). We then find an image and description to match each one from our comprehensive database. This then goes on your Pointy Page.

To get the most out of Pointy, we need access to your POS inventory, stock levels and sales history (to estimate stock levels on your page). Your store's data is important to us and we ensure that it is protected at all times.

3. How do I access my Pointy account?

After you sign up to Pointy you will receive an email from us to create a login for your Pointy Page. Once you have created your login details, you can access your Pointy Page by going to https://www.pointy.com/login.

4. How much does Pointy cost for integrations?

The core Pointy service is completely free for integration POS users. The core service includes your Pointy Page, retailer dashboard, and access to SWIS.
