If there is a manufacturer issued barcode (UPC/EAN) on a product, it should work with Pointy. We do a lot of work to find product information and are constantly improving our coverage, however in some cases we may be unable to find a name and image for a given barcode.
Pointy isn't a great fit for stores which only sell products with display restrictions (e.g. tobacco, prescription medicines) as we aim to block any restricted products from showing up on Pointy. If you notice any products which you think should not be displayed, please contact us at takedown@pointy.com.
Pointy is also intended as a service to help local retailers get their products in front of shoppers, so you'll need a physical store in which consumers can visit and buy your products in.
Stores which aren't a good fit for Pointy
As mentioned above, not all stores are a good fit for Pointy. These are stores which sell items without manufacturer UPC/EAN barcodes and include:
- Furniture
- Clothing
- Footwear
- Accessories and apparel
- Florist supplies
- Rental/temporary/pop-up stores
- Fruit and veg store
- Bakery
If you have purchased a Pointy box but think your store may not be a good fit, please reach out to support@pointy.com and we can help.
Prohibited/restricted categories
In some instances, certain store types are considered sensitive and can be prohibited/restricted with display restrictions. These include gun stores and tobacco stores.
In these cases, the store can still sign-up to Pointy but we will only show non-prohibited/restricted items. For example, if a tobacco store were to sign up to Pointy, we won't show tobacco-based products but we could show non-tobacco based products, e.g. candles, lighters etc.
