How does Pointy work?

Pointy connects to your point of sale system and automatically uses your product information to help local shoppers find your store.

When you connect to Pointy and scan your products at the register, we take the UPC/EAN barcode and match it to an image and product description from our database. This information is then automatically fed to a Pointy Page for your store that shows your products, stock status, contact details, and opening hours.

If you link to SWIS, this product information is also displayed on your Google Business Profile. You also have the option to make ProductAds using the product information on your POS via the ProductAds feature in Pointy which can show up in relevant product-related searches.

Pointy should work for any products with manufacturer-issued barcodes that are EAN-types. We don't have the functionality to allow retailers to add their own custom barcodes to Pointy.

Retailers can connect to Pointy in one of two ways, either with the Pointy box or app download. Retailers using a traditional POS connect to Pointy via the Pointy box, while those using a smart POS can download the app.

The Pointy box is a smart device that plugs between your POS and scanner. It runs off its own internal connection to the internet via the mobile phone network.
