Get started with Communities

You can connect with others that share the same interests as you do in Google+ Communities.

If you use a Google Account through work or school, your administrator may turn off your ability to use Google+. If Google+ is turned off for you, you will be removed from Communities that you’re a member of.

Note: If you use Google+ with your personal Google account, community creation, including community creation for Google+ Pages, has been turned off. If you use Google+ for work or school, community creation for Google+ Pages has been turned off.

How Communities are different from Collections

You can follow a Collection or join a Community.

  • Communities can have more than one owner and moderator, and other people can join that Community.
  • When you're a member of a Community, you can post to that Community. Members of that Community may see your posts in their home stream.

  • One person creates a Collection and only that person can post to that Collection.
  • You can follow someone else's Collection to see what they share, but you can't share posts into someone else’s Collection.
