Share a post with "Public"

When you post something publicly, what you post (including photos) can be seen by anyone, on or off Google services. Here are some examples:
  • People who've added you to their circles may see your post on their Google+ home page.
  • Anyone can see your public posts on your profile.
  • Your publicly shared posts or photos may appear in Google search results and on other Google services. For example, if you share a photo with "Public" that has a location associated with it and that's in an album with the "Show location" option ticked, it may be visible on other Google products and services. Learn how to manage your photos in Album Archive.

Note for G Suite Users

If the person in charge of your G Suite account (domain administrator) has turned on Google+ for your organisation, you can share with people in your organisation just as you'd share with your circles. You can also choose to share *only* within your organisation.

When you share within your organisation, what you've posted will be shown on the home pages of people who have you in a circle. And anyone in your organisation can see what you've shared by looking at your profile. Learn more about sharing restrictions for G Suite users.

Note:

  • If you don't have an Internet connection, what you share won't be posted until you're connected again. Once you're back on the Internet, the post will be automatically shared for you.
  • On Android devices, if you change your mind before reconnecting to the Internet, you can cancel your post by going to your device's notifications, touching the Google+ logo and touching the cancel icon next to the post that you want to cancel.

Share geo-location information in photos

Google+ lets you include geo-location data when you share a photo. This setting is turned off by default.

If you turn this setting on, people can see where your photos were taken when they open or download your photo.

To turn this setting on or off:

On a computer:

  1. Open the Navigation menu, then choose Settings.
  2. Scroll to "Show geo-location by default on newly shared albums" and use the switch to change your setting.

In the Android app:

  1. Open the Navigation menu, then choose Settings.
  2. Choose the account for which you want to change settings.
  3. Tap Photos and videos shared on Google+.
  4. Use the tick box next to "Location" to change your geo-location setting.

Prevent people from commenting on or resharing your post

When you post something, people can comment on it and reshare it by default. If you don't want people to be able to comment on or reshare any of your posts, you can change the setting.

To stop people from commenting on or resharing your post:

  1. Open the post for which you want to turn off commenting or resharing. You can also change this setting when you're posting something.
  2. Click or tap More More.
  3. Click or tap Disable comments or Disable reshares.

You can delete a comment that someone has left on your post by opening the menu in the comment and choosing Delete comment.

You can also change who can comment on your public posts using the Settings menu.

Search
The content that you share publicly in Google+ is publicly searchable – even if your Google profile isn't. The content that you share to specific circles or with people is only searchable by the people it was shared with. There's no way to make the content that you share not searchable.

Note: Not all features are available across all platforms. If you can't find something that you're looking for, please try a different device.
