Polls on Google Currents

Use polls to see what your Google Currents network thinks about particular topics. Vote on polls to share your opinion with others.

Create a poll

Polls can include up to five options for people to choose from. You can create a poll from your personal profile, or from the Currents home stream.

  1. On your computer, open Google Currents.
  2. Click Composeand then  PollPolls .
  3. In the boxes labeled Choice 1 and Choice 2, type your response.
  4. To add a background photo to your question, click Add photo .
    • To crop the photo, put your cursor over the middle of the photo and click Crop Crop.
    • To delete the photo, put your cursor over the middle of the photo and click Cancel Cancel.
    • To add photos for each choice, in the right half of the photo, click Add photo .
  5. Click into each answer box and type a response. Your poll can have between two and five possible choices.
  6. At the top of the box, click the link next to your name to choose the communities and people you want to share the poll with.
  7. In the lower right corner, click Post.

Tip: To see who voted in your poll, find your post where you asked your question. Under the text of the question, touch the linked text that lists the number of votes. You can then see some of the people who voted for each choice, and the percentage of respondents who picked each choice.

Tips about creating a poll

  • Editing polls: You can edit the text of your question after you ask it, but you can't change the choices or photos. You also can't close a poll after you start it, but you can delete your post.
  • Adding photos: You can upload a photo from your desktop or device camera roll or pick a photo from your Google Photos. If you upload photos, we'll automatically create a private Google Photos album with those photos. Only you can see this private photo album, unless you share the URL of the album with someone else.
  • Deleting photos: If you delete a photo in this private, polls photo album, it will remove the photo from the poll itself.
  • Sharing polls: To make sure that votes in private polls aren't shared publicly, you can only reshare public polls.

Vote in a poll

If someone creates a poll on Google Currents, you can respond to let them know what you think. If you don't want to formally vote, you can also leave a comment or like the post.

Important: People who can see the poll may be able to see what you voted for.

  1. On your computer, open Google Currents.
  2. Find the poll on your home page, communities you've joined, or your profile or page.
  3. To vote, click your choice.
  4. You'll know your vote went through when you see the percentage of people who voted for each choice.
  5. If you'd like to change your vote, click your new choice

Image Search and Google Currents polls

Anyone can find images on the Web, but if you are looking to use them, usage rights matter. Copyright owners can use licenses to explain if and how others can use their content.

When you're creating a Google Currents poll, you can use Google Image Search to find images right from the poll creation tool. Results shown are labeled for commercial reuse with modification. But Google has no way of knowing whether your particular use is OK, and we aren’t making any promises. You should check the image source page for license details and only select images that you have confirmed you can use. And keep in mind that most licenses ask you to give credit when using an image.

If you find images in Google Image Search without license details, please report them in the help forum. And remember, you always need to follow our Google Currents User Content and Conduct Policy.
