Important: In Google Photos, you now have more control over the types of videos that you can create with Highlight videos. At photos.google.com, Highlight videos replace movies.

Make Highlight videos

With Google Photos, you can quickly create Highlight videos with your memorable moments. Select the people, places, themes or dates that you want to include and a Highlight video will be automatically created for you.

1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
2. Select Utilities.
3. Under 'Create new', select Highlight video New Highlight video.
4. Choose the subject of your Highlight video.
   • With search: in the search box, type a few words about the people, places, themes or dates to include in your Highlight video. For example, 'Birthday', 'Museum' or 'Japan'.
   • With suggested people, places and time frames: from the suggested items, select 'Who', 'Where', 'When' and more.
5. At the top, click Next.
6. Click Save

Tip: If you can't find the people or time frame that you would like in the suggestions, click Add person or Date range .

Make a Highlight video manually

1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
2. On the left, select Utilities.
3. Under 'Create new', select Highlight video New Highlight video.
4. To choose the photos and videos that you want in the Highlight video, click or select photos.
5. Select your photos or videos.
6. At the top, click Create.
7. When you've finished, click Save.
8. To watch your Highlight video, click Play or wait to be notified when the Highlight video is ready.

Edit a Highlight video

1. On your Highlight video, click Edit .
   • Change music: click Music .
   • Reorder clips: click and hold a clip to drag it into a different position.
   • Remove clips: next to the clip that you want to remove, click More Remove.
2. When you've finished, click Save.

If you delete photos or videos from Google Photos:

• If you delete a photo or video that's in one of your Highlight videos, that photo or video will stay in the Highlight video unless you edit the Highlight video.
• If you edit a Highlight video that features a photo or video that was deleted, that item will automatically be removed from the Highlight video.

Make animations

1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
2. Hover over a photo and click the tick that appears.
3. Select up to 49 more photos.
4. At the top right, click Create new .
5. Select Animation.

Find your Highlight videos and animations

1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
2. On the left, click Explore Movies or Animations.
