Create & manage events

As the host of a Google+ event, you can instantly invite friends, put the event on your Google calendar, and keep track of RSVPs. Events automatically sync with your guests' Google calendars and everyone attending can share their photos to a shared photo album. Google+ events are not available on work or school accounts. 

Android app

Create an event

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google+ app Google Plus.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Events
  3. At the bottom right, tap Compose Compose
  4. In the "Title" box, type the name of your event.
  5. In the Date and Time fields, add the date and time details for your event. 
  6. In the "Location" field, add the location of your event. If your event is virtual with no physical location, next to "Google+ Hangout," tap the checkbox. 
  7. In "Invite people and circles" field, type the names or email addresses of guests you want to invite. Anyone you invite will be able to see the event and respond to the invitation without signing up for Google+. If you include the Public circle, anyone will be able to see and interact with your event.

Add or remove people from the guest list

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google+ app Google Plus.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Events.
  3. Tap the name of your event. 
  4. At the top right, tap Add People Add people.
    • To invite more people, enter names, email addresses, or tap the checkboxes next to your circles to invite people and then in the top right, tap Done.
    • To remove people, tap View all. Then, next to the people you'd like to remove from the guest list, tap REMOVE.

Edit or delete an event

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google+ app Google Plus.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Events
  3. Tap the name of your event.
  4. At the top right, tap More More and then Edit this event or Delete this event.

Add comments or photos

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google+ app Google Plus.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Events
  3. Tap the name of your event.
    • To add a comment, in the top right, tap Add comment Add comment.
    • To add a photo, in the top right, tap More More and then Add photos.

Disable guests from adding comments

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google+ app Google Plus.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Events
  3. Tap the name of your event.
  4. At the top right, tap More More and then Disable comments.

Create an event

  1. On your computer, open Google+
  2. Click Menu Menu and then Events.
  3. In the top right, click Create Event.
  4. In the "Event title" field, type the name of your event.
  5. In the "Date" and "Time" fields, select the date and start time of your event. Click "Add end time" to add an optional end time. To change the time zone, click the time zone displayed, then next to the time zone click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  6. In the "Location" field, type the address your event will be held at.
    • If your event is virtual with no physical location, click Event Options and then Advanced and click "Hangouts." 
  7. Click + Invite names, circles, or email addresses to list the people you wish to invite to your event. Your guests don't have to use Google+; anyone you invite will be able to see the event and respond to the invitation without signing up for Google+. When you're done, click Invite.
  8. After you click Invite, your guests will be notified, see a post on their Google+ Home page, and the event will be added to their Events page and their Google Calendar.
  9. To change your event's theme, at the top of the box, scroll through the images or click Change theme. The theme image you choose for your event will be used in invitation emails, posts about your event, and on the event details page. 

Add or remove people from the guest list

  1. On your computer, open Google+
  2. Click Menu Menu and then Events.
  3. Click the event you wish to update.
  4. To add guests, next to "Guests," click Invite more. If you don't see someone's name, you can enter their email address to invite them.
  5. To remove guests, in the top right of the "Details" box, click the Down arrow Down Arrow and then Manage guest list. Next to the name of the guest you want to remove, click Remove Remove.

Edit or delete an event

  1. On your computer, open Google+
  2. Click Menu Menu and then Events.
  3. Click the event you wish to edit or delete.
    • To edit the event, click Edit event.
    • To delete the event, in the top right of the "Details" box, click the Down arrow Down Arrow and then Delete this event. When you delete an event, the photos and videos from the event collection are no longer shared with the event guests. Guests who added photos to a deleted event still have their own photos.

Add comments, photos, or message guests

  1. On your computer, open Google+
  2. Click Menu Menu and then Events.
  3. Click the event you wish to update. 
    • To message guests, next to "Guests," click Message. Type your message and click the boxes next to which groups you would like to receive the message and then Send.
    • To add a comment, type it into the "Say something" box and click Share.
    • To add a photo, next to the "Say something" box, click Add photos Add photos.

Allow or restrict guests from inviting people, adding photos, or adding comments

  1. On your computer, open Google+
  2. Click Menu Menu and then Events.
  3. Click the name of your event. 
  4. To change guest options, in the top right of the "Details" box, click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
    • Guests can invite other people
    • Guests can add photos
    • Guests can add comments
    • If you disable these options and your guests have already invited others or added photos, those changes will not be undone. But you can remove photos or guests from the event.

Notifications yours guests receive

When you invite people to an event or if you change an event, your guests will be notified by email or through Google+ notifications. Guests will be notified if you change things like the location, the start time, or if you cancel the event. If someone does not have a Google+ account and you invite them to an event, they'll receive the invitation via email. 

Making your event public

Anyone can find the event page of a public event and see the event details, guest list, and any photos and videos that have been added to the event. On the event page of a public event, anyone can say whether they are going, comment, add photos (unless this setting is disabled by the event owner), +1 photos, send invitations, and more. Comments, guest lists, photos, & videos added to a public event can be seen by anyone.

To create an event that anyone can attend:

  1. On your computer, open Google+
  2. Click Menu Menu and then Events.
  3. In the top right, click Create Event.
  4. Click + Invite names, circles, or email addresses and then Public.
