Share your screen or desktop with others

You can share photos or get help with a technical issue when you share your screen or desktop with other people during a Hangout.

Screenshare app

You can let other people see what’s on your computer screen by using the Screenshare app. For example, if there's a picture open on your computer screen, other video call participants can see it without having to download anything.

Share your screen

  1. Hover over the left side of the video call window, and a bar with various app icons will appear.
  2. Click  Screenshare on the left side of your screen.
  3. In the window that appears, choose your desktop or choose the window you want to share.
  4. Click Start Screenshare.

You can stop sharing your screen at any time by clicking Screenshare again.

Remote Desktop app

You can access other people's computers (with their permission, of course) to see their programs with the Remote Desktop app. For example, if your friend is having computer problems and you're a computer expert, then you can remotely access your friend's desktop to help fix the problem.

Enable the Remote Desktop app

  1. Hover over the left side of the video call window, and a bar with various app icons will appear.
  2. Click the  Remote Desktop app.
  3. The other participant will get a notification asking whether to allow remote access. The recipient must click Accept before you can remotely access the person's desktop.

You can stop using the remote desktop app by clicking Remote Desktop again.
