Tips for creating Currents content

Pick your audience appropriately

One of the great features of Currents is that you can choose the circles and individuals you share content with, just like you do in real life. Before sharing your content, take a moment to consider whether or not your audience will find the content interesting. Remember, users can flag content for spam and other violations, and content that violates our Currents User Content and Conduct Policy will be removed.

Contribute to the conversation

Make sure that any comments you leave on a post are appropriate and contribute to the conversation. Post owners can remove comments that they feel are inappropriate, vulgar, or unrelated to the conversation. Additionally, we will remove comments that abuse our policies. Repeatedly posting unrelated or offensive comments can lead to Currents profile suspension.

Add people to your circles who interest you

Currents encourages you to add people to your circles and follow the content they share with you. Add those who interest you, but do not aggressively add people to your circles in an attempt to gain more followers.

Don't share restricted content

Unwanted commercial content or spam

Do not use Currents to distribute unsolicited or unwanted promotional or commercial content or unwanted or mass solicitations.

Pornography or sexually explicit material

Currents is not a place for pornography or sexually explicit content. Most nudity is not allowed, particularly if it is in a sexual context. There are exceptions for some educational, documentary, scientific, and artistic content, but only if that is the sole purpose of the content, and it is not gratuitously graphic.

Violent, shocking, or disgusting content

The world is a dangerous place. Sometimes people get hurt, and it’s inevitable that these events may be photographed or written about. However, it’s not okay to post violent or gory content that’s primarily intended to be shocking, sensational, or disrespectful. If content is graphic or disturbing, it should be balanced with additional context and information. For instance, including images from a slaughterhouse in a post on factory farming may be appropriate. However, stringing together unrelated and gruesome images of animals being slaughtered is gratuitous.

Harassing behavior

Currents is all about sharing and interacting with our community in respectful ways. If you're looking to attack, harass, demean, or impersonate others, go elsewhere.

Illegal activities

Currents should not be used for unlawful purposes or for promoting dangerous or illegal activities. If you’re found engaging in such activity, we may suspend your profile, notify law enforcement authorities, or take other appropriate action.

If you violate our Currents User Content and Conduct Policy, your access to Currents may be limited or suspended.
