Remove an account from your device

If someone no longer uses your Pixel Slate regularly, you can remove their account.

  1. On the sign-in screen, select the profile that you want to remove.
  2. In the lower-right corner of the profile picture, select the Down arrow
  3. Select Remove this user.
  4. In the box that appears, select Remove this user.

When you remove an account, it's only removed from the device. The Google Account itself, including its data and settings, will still exist.

Fix problems removing accounts

I don't see the option "Remove this person"

You might be using a device that's managed by an administrator, like at your work or school. To get help removing accounts, contact your administrator.

I want to remove the owner account

The first Google Account that is used to sign into a device usually becomes the owner account.

To remove the owner account, you'll need to erase everything on your device. For more information on erasing device data through a factory reset, see Related articles.

An account was removed automatically

If your device is running low on space, the profile that hasn't been used the longest will be removed from your device automatically.

If this happens, the Google Account itself, and any data and settings synced with the account, will still exist. However, any items that person saved to your device, such as downloaded files, will be deleted.

If a profile gets removed from your device, you can add that profile again. However, the files that were downloaded by that account won't be restored. For more information on adding a person to your device, see Related articles.
