And with portrait mode, on both Duo Cam and the rear-facing camera, the subject of your photo stands out by blurring the background.

2The Pixelbook Pen's button works only when it's touching the device screen and requires internet connection. The Pixelbook Pen does not have a microphone feature.

Use with work or school accountsCan I use Pixel Slate with an account managed by my work or school?
Yes. However, to use the Google Assistant and download Android apps, you might need to ask your organization's admin to turn on several settings in the Admin console. Details below.
You can also access Android apps by signing in to your Pixel Slate through your personal account, rather than your work or school account. Just note that any Android apps you download will be available only when you're signed in to your personal account.
Note: If your Google Account was set up through a K–12 school or non-profit group, or you have an .EDU email address, you won't be able to use the Google Assistant on Pixel Slate.
Here's what your organization's admin needs to do to grant you access to Android apps and Google Assistant through your managed account:
- To allow for downloading of Android apps from the Google Play Store, enable Android apps on Chrome OS for your domain
- To enable the Google Assistant, turn on Search & Assistant services and Web & App Activity (work accounts only)
After your admin turns on these settings, it can take a few hours for the changes to apply. Learn more about Web & App Activity.
How is screen brightness measured?
The brightness of screen displays is typically measured in nits (nt), also referred to as candelas per square meter (cd/m2). This measurement tells you how much light is emitted per unit area (1 nt = 1 cd/m2). Screen brightness can vary by device. Based on measurements taken on a selection of units, Pixel Slate’s actual screen brightness can range from 320 nits to more than 400 nits. The range is a result of variations in panel manufacturing, system assembly, and system operating conditions.
