I have a pixel 3a on android 9, when I attempt to upgrade to android 11 it fails installation.  How can I proceed?

Same here with the pixel 3a xl. I sent one back as I thought it was faulty but the second one does the same thing. The package downloads but won't install after several boot loops and an error message 'installation problem' appears. I can't find any evidence online that Google are aware of the issue and are trying to fix it.

Having the same problem with Pixel 3a locked to T-Mobile. Wonder if it has anything to do with T-Mobile locked Pixels.

I don't think it's just t-mobile as both of the phones I had which failed to update were unlocked.

I updated mine to the most recent version of android 10 using the ADB tools. I was then able to update the phone using the system update to android 11. No problems at all. A useful guide on how to update using ADB is in the below YouTube video for those willing and confident enough to try (it's very easy):
