How do I get media off a Pixel phone that won't boot? 0 Recommended Answers 5 Replies 0 Upvotes

I have had no problems with my phone until today. I was making a few videos with my phone and suddenly the camera app started crashing.  I tried to shut the phone down, but it wouldn't respond. When I hold down the power button for a long time, the screen goes black, but only for about 10 seconds. Then the phone automatically reboots, but not all the way.  It is just spinning in the start up screen.

More important than the phone is the last videos I took with it, which I am desperate to retrieve.  I checked Google photos on my computer and it stopped backing stuff up a few days ago.  How can I retrieve media that I know is on my phone if it won't start up.

Also, should I go back to iPhone?  This piece of shit is really pissing me off right now!

Hello Katherin Machalek,

If your phone is still under warranty, I suggest you contact your place of purchase regarding options that may be available to you.

If your phone is no longer under warranty, use the following link for information on countries with authorized repairers where it is possible to get a phone fixed out of warranty:

Yes, my phone is under warranty and I am getting a new phone, but this does not address the problem of the media on the phone.  It was not backed up to G drive.  How can I get it off the phone before I send it back to google?

Hello Katherin Machalek,

As there was no time for the data to be backed up, and the phone is unbootable, there's no way to retrieve the data through normal methods.

I don't understand how this is not possible.  The phone isn't completely dead.  It just won't boot up fully.  I understand that I cannot use the phone normally, but the data must be there.  It seems unreasonable to not be able to pull the data from the phone.  Why would Google not make this possible?  Seems like a no brainer.
