Type C headphones suddenly stopped working on my Pixel 2 XL

My headphones which previously used to work fine have stopped working all of a sudden. The phone no longer recognizes any pair of headphones as audio device. I tried at least 2 different pairs which used to work previously. Restarting the device didn't work. But, using the device in Safe mode apparently fixed the issue but started the phone in normal mode and the issue reappeared. How to fix this?

Hi, Since I am still linked to this thread, I wanted to report that something upgraded (Android vs the interfering app) and so now my usb c port headphones work again with my pixel xl2.   Don't know what fix made the difference, but it works!

Using a pixel 2 XL and starting to face the same issue since yesterday. Have been using the type-C headphones since a month or so. Phone is charging normally via the same type-c port. But the headphones seems not recognizable at all. Status in the headphone settings is still disconnected. Tried using it on safe mode as well. Used a soft brush to clean both ports, to no avail. While it does show headphone settings in Google Assistant, it sets it up and all, but in the end it's still disconnected.

Just had this issue occur with my 3xl. One minute working, next minute YouTube is paused and headphones no longer registering.
Sadly after lots of faff, and swapping cables ect I found that the headphones had just died. Very odd.

Which is even odder as I did a hard restart and they worked for 30 secs then stopped again.
Are headphones under the warranty? More faff needed.

Hi Joshua. Give Google Support a call to enquire about a warranty replacement for your earphones.
