I upgraded to a Google Pixel 4 XL, with Android 10, Sprint. The phone is constantly going to Roaming 2 Recommended Answers 28 Replies 29 Upvotes

Sprint customer service has tried 7 times to help me (all the standard software fixes, resets, reset mobile SIM, etc) but nothing works. They even fully replaced the phone with a new Pixel 4XL but it still occurs. They ask me demeaning questions like whether I'm in a rural area, or suggesting a tower is down. But, this occurs in urban centers, and the people I'm with (even wife on same Sprint plan) has full LTE while mine goes into Roaming. I have to restart the phone each time to get back into LTE. I'm at a loss, and considering complaining to Sprint once again in order to get a Samsung (I have only ever had Samsung smartphones, and now I'm realizing I made a massive error by trusting Google to make a usable device)

I have the same problem. I just contacted google chat and they told me that they "identified a fix that will roll out soon through a system software update." but wouldn't give me any idea as to when except, "The security updates will be released in every month, you might get this in the next month update".
They also suggested the following fix. I just tried this with my phone but way too soon to see if it fixes anything but wanted to add it here in case it helps anyone else. I'll report back in a few days if it works.
Go to Settings -> Apps & notifications -> See all <#> apps
Tap the three-dot icon on top right, and select "Show system".
Tap the three-dot icon on top right, and select "Show system".
Find app "Phone Services" -> Storage & cache -> Clear storage > Reboot the phone.

Ok.... After a solid week of testing, I can finally say for sure that the March update fixed my roaming issues. If you haven't updated, do it ASAP if you're experiencing this issue.

After testing this, this does NOT fix the issue for me. For instance, we drove out to a small town for dinner last night and sprint's signal out there is pretty weak and even sometimes does go into roaming so I wasn't too terribly shocked to see my phone popped back into roaming (though my wife's iphone wasn't roaming...also on sprint). What really frustrates me though is when we drove back into town where I KNOW there is a good sprint signal....the phone is STILL stuck on roaming. Please get this fixed. It's super frustrating on an otherwise great phone. I will let google know as well since I still have an open case with them.

My wife and I have new Pixel 4 and 4xl on sprint and are experiencing the same issues. Lots of unsuccessful trouble shooting with sprint and google. Nothing works as a fix. I was on the phone with google last night (Dec 11th, 2019) and they did not find any other record of this being a known or emerging issue. It doesn't seem to me that they are aware which makes me doubt that a fix is being worked on.
