Battery/Charging info broken on lock screen 0 Recommended Answers 37 Replies 45 Upvotes

Pixel 2 XL - Android 10 QP1A.191005.007.A1 - This is a bug in the text layout on the lock screen/always on display.  Charging state, charge completion estimate, and battery percentage at the bottom of the display are obscured or missing from the lock screen and the always on display. Changes to the "Display Size" or "Font Size" settings can move the text, but no combination can fully display the text on the screen. See: https://i.imgur.com/8kNjhIE.png

Hi Jason,

I don't have a 2XL to test with, but I'm not seeing this with my Pixel 2, Pixel 3, or Pixel 3a.

Is the battery information still cut off if you reboot into Safe Mode?

Thanks!
John

This has been happening to my 2XL for weeks. I assumed that the update to Android 10 would fix it but it didn't.

I spent about 10 days with this display issue.  I thought it was due to something with the October 6th update.  I thought maybe it was because I have my Display Size and Font Size set one notch above Default.  I tried tons of combinations of those settings.  Rebooted numerous times.  Nothing did more than move the text around (Never more than half of it actually on the screen) , change it's size, or pushed it completely off screen.  No problems on my wife's Pixel 2 or my kids Pixel 3a phones. Today, it's just magically fixed.  I haven't even rebooted the phone since I posted this. (65 hours up time now)  All I can say is, I wish I'd posted the issue earlier so it could magically fix itself a week ago.

I've seen it go away for a few days and come back.

Same issue for me on the Pixel 3 XL...went away for a little while and then it's come back. Any updates?

I have this problem intermittently. Currently I have no notifications, so barely anything to display on the always on screen. The top half of the battery percentage is not displaying. Pixel 2 XL Android 10 October update.

I'm having the same issue as Matt here.  It just started for me about a week ago.  Nothing I can do seems to fix this.

Jason,

Glad to hear it sorted itself out on its own! Weird, but I'll take it!

Everyone else,

Are you able to reproduce this issue with the phone booted into Safe Mode? That would really help us to narrow down the scope of the problem.

Thanks!
John

This afternoon I got the top portion of the text obscured.

Rebooted into Safe Mode as suggested.  No issues in Safe Mode, the text is visible.
Rebooted into regular mode, no issues, the text is now visible.
Note: Settings->Privacy->Lock Screen is set to "Don't show notifications at all"
So "supposedly" the only non-system apps that interacts with the lock screen is Album Art from music.

Non-relevant rant: Not being able to disable album art on the lock screen is super infuriating, by the way, even if it's blurred (sometimes worse because it's blurred).  Nothing quite as fun, for example, as being greeted by a naked Selena Gomez lock screen at work because it was the last song played on my daughter's Pandora station when dropping her off at school.

Hi Penny. Thanks for that information. That would be good as I hope to keep using my Pixel 1 for a little while yet (battery permitting).
