Spotify won't appear on lock screen pixel 3

i made the switch from iPhone to Google Pixel. one of the things i found convenient about the iPhone was that i could listen to music on Spotify and the songs would appear on my lock screen for easy access to changing or pausing a song. However on the Pixel i have to continuously log into the phone to change or pause a song and its really tedious and annoying having to do so, on top of time consuming. Has anyone figured out how to have Spotify appear on the Pixel lock screen  without the inconvenience of logging in ?

Long press on the Spotify icon, tap the (i) in the pop-up. Tap Notifications. First, confirm that all the boxes against the categories are checked. Next, tap on the text "Playback" (not the checkbox). You will be taken to a new screen for customizing notifications for this particular category. Tap Advanced, and see what 'On lock screen' is set to. Is it set to 'Don't show notifications at all'? If yes, change it to 'Hide sensitive content', and you should see playback controls on lock screen too.

Hello,
By default the controls you describe for a song should appear on lock screen too. Can you share a screenshot of what you're seeing so we can get a better idea of the issue you're facing?

Also, you could setup Google voice commands to simply do it with your voice, even faster.

Thanks for the solution. I have noticed that after I activated the Spotify lock screen notification, while it does show the Spotify widget that shows current tune, but if I leave the phone a d return to it, the current tune isn't updated.
