Hello and welcome,

Pixel devices do not support Miracast.  Why can you not use a Chromecast?  If you provide more detail on what you are trying to accomplish maybe we can offer suggestions.

Google is able to support Miracast in Pixels. But it forces people to use Chromecast instead (I have Samsung and Xiaomi android phones,  there's no problem)

If more smart televisions supported Chromecast then the lack of support for miracast would not be a problem.  My wife can cast to our new LG Smart TV with her Iphone 8 with the push of a button. Most modern smart tv's appear to support apple phones or Android phones with Miracast.  I have spent enough money and I don't want to stick another device into a spare HDMI port on my television.  The price on my Pixel 3A XL was right but having a great camera does not make it competitive.  When I replace my phone I will be switching to Apple after years of being  an Android fan.

I am also unhappy that Google locked down Miracast for the sole purpose of trying to get more Chromecast sales. That is the OPPOSITE of Do No Evil

OMG, I didn't do my research and now I find out the bloody pixel phone, after we had got it, does not support miracast... so lame.

seriously, for shame google. reintroduce miracast functionality for pixel users that DO NOT want to spend more money to buy another google product. seriously, this is corporate greed to the max.

I won't change my TVs, is easier change phones. Tomorrow I will go to a Cell store to exchange my pixel 3 for another brand. I should return it the first day, With that small angle, the camera isn't as good as they said, additionally, doesn't have SD card support, have special USB-C earphones using the same connector than the charger... And now I can't cast to my TVs ... Change to a Pixel was not a good idea.

Wow, no Miracast! I'll think twice before buying another Pixel.

I spent 1 hours try to connect my new pixel 4 xl to my Sony TV(2017 years product)... The past years, my old phone can connect to my Sony TV easily and without problem. Why Google pixel4 not support Miracast? For greed? For selfish? For like apple?  I buy Android phone is because it should more compatible to other device than Apple!  I still can't believe that pixel 4 don't support Miracast.

So finally I stumbled across this. I bought a Dell Wireless monitor in hopes of being able to screencast Disney+, Hulu etc from my Pixel 3a. The monitor doesn't have Chromecast built in and the HDMI one I have doesn't seem to work with it. Any suggestions since I'm past the point of returning this now?

Ya this is pretty dumb.  The technology for both Miracast and USB-C to HDMI has been around for a long time.  Why Google would go through the effort to lock down those features is mind boggling.  Good job Google.  Chromecasts are stupid and we don't all want one so quit trying to force everyone to get them.  If you want your hardware business to grow you need get rid of dumb practices like this and be more open.  Like Android is, Apple is not...stick with the game plan.

Personally, the USB-C to HDMI is a critical mobility feature that is absent in the pixel line. Lots of different wearable devices take HDMI input,  but rigging them to use a device that requires external power (like a chromecast) and then going through the mess of trying to get your chromecast to mirror direction from the screen is just about insurmountable.

This thread helped me avoid wasting $$$ on a Pixel phone. I need - and want - ability to screen share from my phone via Miracast, especially when traveling.  I don't trust hotel wifi security and don't have internet service at my cabin.  Limit customers all to push Chromecast. How small minded of Google. And greedy.
