Battery drains when powered off 0 Recommended Answers 31 Replies 59 Upvotes

My phone is at 100% when I power if off at night. When I turn it on in the morning it is less than 40%.
If left plugged in overnight it is at 100% in the morning and functions normally with percentage of battery life dropping as I use it throughout the day.

Hello Paul,

I suggest you go through the troubleshooting steps in this Google Support article:

If the problem persists, there's a "Contact Us" link at the top right hand side of the article's page where you can obtain further advice from a Google Support specialist.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

That's so weird I have never heard of such a thing nor did I think that was even possible.

You may want to try a Factory Data Reset and then do not restore any backup from the cloud. Choose the "set up as new device" option. Then test the scenario before loading any apps on the device. This is to rule out any potential software bugs or third-party apps (which I suspect is not the problem, but should be ruled out).

If that is unsuccessful and the problem still continues, than you likely have a hardware issue, in which case you should contact Google 1:1 Support.

Let us know how it turns out.

I thought I was nuts seeing mine do it. I bought a new, sealed original Pixel a few days ago for a spare phone just so my spare would be usb-c also. I made sure it was fully charged, set it up and fully updated it and made sure it was at 100% when I powered it off. I turned it on the next day as I was going to put some apps(didn't end up doing that) on it and found it was at 70(ish)%. Last night I tested it again and once again it dropped to 72%
Just factory reset and didnt setup account/wifi so we'll see...

So I factory reset the phone, didnt set up account/wifi, no sim in and I made sure the phone was at 100% before turning it off at 8:30PM. The next day I turned my phone on at 9AM and my Pixel is at 71%

How is battery drain of this amount even possible when powered off?

I have the same problem. Just bought the 3a and keeping the Pixel1 as a backup, but it won't stay charged when turned off... battery keeps draining overnight to 50% or less

I'm seeing the same thing. -Seems pretty clear the phone is not actually "off"- I guess it makes sense that drain would continue for things like waiting for "power on" input, but I don't see why this would cause such a dramatic battery drain. I observed a decrease of 27% over two days with it powered off.

I have the same problem, charged to 100% and turned it off overnight, turned it on just now and it is 65%.

I have the same issue, I keep more battery if I leave it on all night, how does that make sense? How could it be a mis-behaving app?? Never had this problem with Nexus.
I guess I'm lucky I have 70% compared to others here.
