Upgrade to Android 10 disables instant hot swap between e-SIM and physical SIM

I have Pixel 2 XL. Prior to upgrade to Android 10, I was able to easily swap between Google Fi on e-SIM and Verizon MNVO on my physical SIM from Carrier settings under Network & internet. Since upgrade to Android 10, whenever I switch back to Google Fi, the phone stops seeing physical SIM.

The only option to re-enable physical SIM now is to either re-insert SIM card try or click on + next to Mobile network option and simulate "downloading" a virtual SIM which will fail but in the process re-enable the physical SIM installed in your phone. That is a major bug preventing seamless switch between Google Fi e-sim and physical SIM. When physical SIM is activated, it can see two SIMs -  inactive downloaded SIM for Google Fi and active physical SIM. Once I enable in options SIM for Google Fi and confirm switch, it no longer sees the physical SIM.

If you haven't already, please be sure to report this defect directly to the Pixel team via Settings > About phone > Send feedback about this device

I also found this issue on the tracker which you might want to "star" as well:

Cheers,

To double up here, identical problem in the Pixel 2. Either find me a shortcut (USSD/MMI) that lets me manually change Sim, or give me back the menu options to do it.

You just have to pop out your sim, and reinsert. I came here with the same problem, but when you add your physical sim back, you have two options to hot swap between Google fi e-sim and physical. hope this helps!

Same problem here.  Sent feedback on phone as suggested.  Popping the SIM out while in the middle of a forest is not an option.  Please fix this problem.

I had the same issue and had to go through the download esim process, wait for it to fail, and then it recognized 2 sims and i could pick the physical SIM. I have done this many times while traveling before the Android 10 update but this is the first time since the update so I suspect it is an Android 10 issue.

Same issue. Great job Google! It happen with me at the worst time, phone needed for a activation code. They sent it to the physical sim and I was NOT able to switch back after 1 hour in line, in a store, in a hurry. And unable to pay because I can't get the code. Again Google, Thank you!

Same issue here and only after the upgrade to 10.  having to carry a pin, take off my case and reinsert the Sim slot is terrible.

Same issue with mine as well.  Pixel 3 XL, Android 10.  Cannot switch from physical SIM to e-SIM anymore via the FiSwitch app, settings, or the dialer code.  Nothing works.  Under Android 9, this functioned beautifully.  I use Fi in certain areas, and a physical Verizon SIM in others.  Guess I'll be flashing back to Android 9.
