Pixel 6 sending messages on my phone through two different numbers
2
I recently changed providers from Verizon to T-Mobile when I bought my Google Pixel 6.  I've been using the Messages app on the Pixel and sometimes, it sends the message through what I was told by T-Mobile was a temporary number, and sometimes it sends it through my actual phone number (which was transferred from Verizon to T-Mobile).  T-Mobile looked at things on their end -- SIM card looked good, correct phone number is registered on phone.  They couldn't see anything amiss, but I am still getting this issue.  Right now I'm going to try using a third party messaging app to see if it fixes the issue, but I'm not sure what else to do.  Is anyone else with a Pixel 6 experiencing this?

Hey Scott,

I'm not able to find my phone number in chat features but I did find it in Advanced settings, and it is the correct phone number.

That would explain it, thanks for the clarification. I had set my other texting app Textra as the default app.  I just set Messages as the default app again, and it does show the temporary number under Chat features.  In advanced settings it's still shows the correct number.

I disabled chat features, and re-enabled it and then it asked to verify my number.  I put my actual number in and it seems to have accepted it as the connected number for chat features now.

I'll keep using Messages and run some tests to see if this works, but for now I think it's probably fixed.  Thanks for your help.

I was having the same issue with my Pixel 6. I transferred my number from AT&T to T-Mobile. Turning the chat feature off and on fixed it. Thanks for the information!
