Poor quality Pixel 6 front facing camera - the Pixel 3 takes better pictures
0
I recently bought the Pixel 6 Pro and the front facing camera quality if  significantly worse than my Pixel 3.

This issue appears on two  Pixel 6 pro's  that I tested.   Looking at the raw data, it looks like it's an issue with the compositing -  causing my face to be washed out and covered with a red tent.

If you look at the attached images, you'll see that the washed out colors appear also in the viewfinder and are  very noticeable after the  post-processing.

The issue is most  noticeable when  there is indirect lighting - however the images are still more washed out than any previous Pixel phone.

Is Google looking into this?
Attached are:
- screenshots from the camera view finder
- a comparison of the final shot (zoomed into the face to show the issue)

Seeing this as well with indirect light (eg sitting on couch a foot away from the window on a cloudy gray day). I just got off a call with my dad on WhatsApp after moving from the Pixel 3 to 6 (not pro) who commented that I looked super washed out and looking in camera app, saw the same result as well.

Thank the Lord I'm not the only one. I'm highly disappointed!! I'm "upgrading" from a pixel 3 to a pixel 6. I don't understand downgrading the front camera at all. This definitely makes me wish I held off for the next generation.

Same issue, very sad about it, would love to know if it's being fixed.

I have the exact same issue, and I also moved from a 3xl to the 6Pro. I'm very disappointed with the camera quality, front and back. I bought my unlocked from Google directly, and they are going to be sending me a replacement device soon. We'll see if anything different comes from it. If it does, I'll follow up on this post.

Here is another example - The Pixel 6 drains the color out of my face and caused weird color noise around my eyes.

Thanks for starting this post. This is one of the reasons I'm sending back my Pixel 6. Like some others here, I'm also coming from a Pixel 3 and really notice the difference with how much clearer the front facing camera is on the 3. I hope this can be fixed by a software update so I may consider buying again in future.

I just returned my pixel 6 pro because the camera issues are terrible. This and overprocessing, especially on that 2x lens. It's a shame because i really wanted to love this phone.

I had same issues! Google Support offered me a fix, which helped me a lot!

Tap Settings -> Apps -> Notifications -> See All -> Camera -> Force stop

After force stopping the app, reopen and test your Google Camera

It took away most of the blurriness and graininess.

Hope it helps other people!
