For anyone that doesn't like the new Clock interface, send Feedback about it (Settings - About Phone). This is the best we can do as customers. A persistent notification will make the clock smaller (like a voicemail notification for example) but this is hardly a resolution. Android 12L will be released in the first quarter of 2022 and should have changes to Android 12 UI.

This is actually a "feature" of Android 12.

While you cannot manually change it back to the old one-line H:MM format, you will get that smaller format if there are any active notifications on your phone.

I use an app Signal Spy that lets you know how you are connected to the internet - wifi or cellular. It has an option to display an icon on the notification line. As long as that is active, my lock screen shows the one-line clock. Odd workaround, but I rely on it until Android 12 has a better option.

Hi Rob Pemberton

Might you be able to share a screenshot of what you are seeing there, please?

Is there any way to change WHERE the clock displays on the lock screen. When it goes to the smaller clock, everything gets pushed up to the top of the screen, and it blocks the photo I have saved. I just want it to show up at the bottom. Possible?

This was a terrible UI decision. I use an Android phone because of the ability to customize the UI and how I use it. The product manager that made the decision on this supposed "feature", with no way to change it, should be fired.

Update.  I've found the whole giant clock issue so cumbersome that I've reflashed Android 11.  For an OS who prides itself (or used to) on customization, it seems like a poor choice to lock in this "gigaclock" with no option to change.  I did try the mentioned work around which helped but the problem still remains.  I was planning to buy the 6XL but for now sticking with the trusty 5.  Thanks,

This massive clock is one of the stupidest things I have ever seen. I have 20-20 vision, I don't need an absurdly illogical time format (hours over minutes) in size 90 font.

But that's not the worst part. The worst part is that you made it so that I cannot change it. Thanks for fixing something that wasn't broken, Google. Whoever came up with that design idea should be fired.

I agree with all of you, I hate the clock, it's actually ruined my opinion of Google and want to change phones ASAP. Hate it Google, don't fix something that's not broken!!!

9 out of 10 people don't know what those numbers are.  I have never seen a clock format like that.  Someone finally told me those numbers are the clock format.  Agreed it is really annoying.

Google - this "feature" is HORRIBLE; maybe I should switch to iPhone after all

Yes I agree with you all. This giant clock is a bad design by Google if this can not be fixed this will be my last Pixel. I don't mind having a clock but I don't need to see it from space.

Legitimately my first thought was "you could see this from the moon". But only if you're happy to see the time displayed over two lines. TWO LINES! Google, are you OK?

Google what are you thinking??? Please fix it asap or good bye pixel  phone !!!
