Open your phone's Settings app.
Tap Battery.

Charge your Pixel phone with a cable

Check the USB-C port and cable

In the port at the bottom of your phone, plug either end of the USB-C cable.
Plug the other end of the cable into the power adaptor.
Plug your power adaptor into a power socket.

Charge your Pixel phone wirelessly

Important: Wireless charging is available on Pixel 3 and later, except Pixel 3a, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5a and Pixel 6a.

Wireless charging on Pixel 10 and newer

Important: The Pixel 10 and later devices won't charge wirelessly with the Pixel Stand 1st gen or 2nd gen.

The Pixel 10 and later devices, excluding Pixel 10a, support Qi2. Qi2 is a magnetic charging technology that works across different manufacturers. This makes charging seamless and reliable. The magnets make sure that your phone and accessory are always aligned for the best charging experience.

Choose a wireless charger that works with your phone.
- For the fastest wireless charging speeds, make sure your wireless charger is Qi2-certified like the Pixelsnap Charger. Learn how to charge your phone with a Pixelsnap Charger.
- Qi is a registered trademark of Wireless Power Consortium Inc. To confirm that your charger is officially Qi-certified, search for it in the Wireless Power Consortium product database.
  - For Qi2 compatibility, make sure that the product's version number in the database starts with a 2.
- Tips:
  - Older Qi chargers like Qi1.x will still work but they'll charge your phone slower at up to 5 W.
  - If you experience issues with your car's wireless charger, learn how to troubleshoot in-vehicle wireless charging issues.
Use a power adaptor that’s compatible with your phone like the Google 45W USB-C Power Charger or the Pixel Flex Dual Port 67 W USB-C Fast Charger.
- Make sure that the power adaptor is plugged into a working power socket.
- To charge faster, use a proper power socket instead of a laptop USB-C port.
Make sure that your phone case is compatible with Qi2 charging.
Tip: If your case doesn't support Qi2, take it off as it might affect charging.
If your phone gets too warm, it might pause charging to protect your battery.
Tip: Charging starts again when your phone cools down.
Just like your Pixel, wireless chargers also support different power outputs. Higher wattage usually means faster charging, but your phone must also support the higher speed. Wireless charging on Pixel 9a and earlier

Important: Wireless charging isn't available on Pixel 3a, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5a (5G) and Pixel 6a.

Check if your phone supports this feature.
Choose a wireless charger that works with your phone.
- Make sure that you use a Qi 1.x wireless charger or a Pixel Stand that works with your phone. Learn how to charge your phone with a Pixel Stand.
  - Qi is a registered trademark of Wireless Power Consortium Inc. To confirm that your charger is officially Qi certified, search for it in the Wireless Power Consortium product database.
- MagSafe wireless chargers don't work with Pixel 9a and earlier phones.
- Wireless chargers support different power outputs. Higher wattage usually means faster charging, but your phone must also support the higher speed. To know more about your Pixel's supported wattage, check the 'Battery and charging' section for your phone in Pixel phone hardware tech specs.
Set up your wireless charger.
- Plug your wireless charger into a wall socket using the provided adaptor or any adaptor that works with your phone. You can also use a built-in wireless charger like those available in cars.
- Put the charger on a stable surface. Keep it away from metal or magnets as these can affect charging.

For the best wireless charging experience:

Remove cases: If you experience slow or unsteady charging, take off your phone case. Thick or metallic cases like those with magnets or ring holders can affect charging or stop it completely.
Do not move your phone: Try not to move or use your phone too much while charging wirelessly. This can break the connection.
Keep it cool: Avoid charging in very hot places like under direct sunlight. This can affect the battery and charging performance.
- Make sure that there's enough cool air around it, especially when in a vehicle.

Tip: Your phone can charge faster when its battery is low since it can take in more power and charges quicker.

Wireless charging on Pixel 9 Pro Fold

Important: Pixel 9 Pro Fold doesn't support the Pixel Stand due to the position of the wireless charging coil, but it supports other Q1.x wireless chargers. To make sure that you've correctly placed your phone on a wireless charger that works with it, check your phone's charging indicator.

Know when your phone is charging

Important: Make sure that your phone's ring sound is on. Learn how to change volume, sound and vibrate settings on your Pixel phone.

Open your phone's Settings app.
Tap Sound and vibration.
Turn on Charging sounds and vibration.
When you plug in your phone or place it on a wireless charger, the charging indicator lights up and your phone vibrates.

Set up customisations

Create a custom screen saver for charging

When your phone is charging and you're not using it, you can make a custom screen saver to show:

Different clock styles
Weather updates
Personal photo frame
Charging status
Home controls

Important: Some screen saver types require specific permissions.

To get real-time weather updates, set your location permissions to Always allow.
To display your personal photo frame, allow access to your photos and media library.

To use this feature:

Open your phone's Settings app.
Tap Display and touch Screen saver.
Turn on Use screen saver.
Choose the settings that you want.

Tips:

To switch between different screen savers, swipe left or right from the edge.
To check the overview of active screen savers, touch and hold your screen.
You can check your screen saver order on the setup screen.
- To change the sequence, drag a screen saver to a new position.

Charging tips

Which cables and power adaptors to use for your Pixel phone:

For cables, you can use:
- USB-C to USB-C cable
- USB-A to USB-C cable
  - Use this when you charge your phone with a USB-A power adaptor. This charges your phone slower than a USB-C power adaptor with a USB-C cable.
For power adaptors, you can use:
- A Google 30 W, 45W or 67 W USB-C Fast Charger.
- Any Programmable Power Supply (PPS) power adaptor rated for 30 W or more.
- Other USB Power Delivery (PD) adaptors rated for 15 W or more.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold can charge up to 30 W or more. Learn more about Pixel phone hardware tech specs.
Other cables and power adaptors might not work with Pixel phones. Charging speed may change depending on the charger and cable that you use.

Does your charging accessory work with your Pixel phone?

If you get a 'Check charging accessory' notification, it means that your cable or USB power adaptor may not be supported by your phone or it might be broken. This can make your phone charge very slowly or not charge at all.

To fix this, try charging with a cable and charger that works with your phone. Learn which cables and power adaptors to use for your Pixel phone.

How do I use Battery Share to charge other devices wirelessly?

Important: Battery Share is only available on Pixel 5, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL.

Use Battery Share to wirelessly charge phones or accessories like Pixel Buds that support Qi. To do this, place your accessory or other phone on the back of your Pixel phone. Learn how to charge other devices with Pixel.

Tip: To charge wirelessly with Battery Share, your phone needs to have enough battery level.

Why is my phone charging slower than usual?

After a while, your Pixel phone's battery performance may decline because of how you use it, the temperature and its age. To help the battery last longer, some Pixel phones may automatically adjust their charging to manage device and battery temperatures. Sometimes, this can cause slower charging. Technical notes

If you want to remove the battery, it's best to take it to an authorised repair partner. We do not recommend that you take the battery out yourself.
