Bluetooth profiles for Pixel & Nexus

You can use Bluetooth to connect your phone or tablet to other devices in many ways, depending on the Bluetooth profiles that your phone or tablet supports. Learn how to connect via Bluetooth.

Bluetooth profiles on all devices

All Pixel and Nexus devices support these Bluetooth profiles:

  • Advanced audio distribution profile (A2DP)
You can stream high-quality audio (stereo or mono) using Bluetooth. For example, you can play music from your phone or tablet on a wireless headset or a compatible car audio system.
  • Audio/video remote control profile (AVRCP)
You can use compatible Bluetooth devices as remote controls for audio and video playback, like when streaming from your phone on your car or TV.
  • Hands-free profile (HFP)
You can use common voice commands, like saying "Ok Google," using Bluetooth.
  • Human interface device profile (HID)
You can use a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse with your phone or tablet.
  • Personal area network profile (PAN)
You can create a network between your devices that use Bluetooth.

Bluetooth profiles on phones with SIM cards

Pixel and Nexus phones with active SIM cards also support these Bluetooth profiles:

  • Hands-free profile (HFP)
You can use Bluetooth devices to make and receive hands-free phone calls.
  • Message access profile (MAP)
You can exchange messages between devices using Bluetooth.
  • Phonebook access profile (PBAP)
You can see the name of an incoming caller and sync your contacts.
