Learn when you'll get software updates on Google Pixel phones

Below are software update guarantees for Pixel phones. If you have another Android device, contact your manufacturer or operator for update info. If you have a Nexus device, learn about Android updates on Nexus.

About Pixel updates

Pixel phones receive regular software updates that include security enhancements, new features, operating system updates, bug fixes and more.

If you bought your device from the Google Store, updates will typically reach your device within two weeks. If you bought your device elsewhere, updates can take longer.

When you'll get Pixel updates

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will receive updates for at least seven years from when the device first became available on the Google Store in the US. These updates include security and software, and may also include Feature Drops.

Pixel 6 and later phones, including Fold, will get updates for at least five years from when the device first became available on the Google Store in the US. These updates include security, software and may also include feature drops.

Pixel 4, 4 XL, 4a, 4a (5G), 5 and 5a (5G) phones receive Android version updates and security updates for at least three years from when the device first became available on the Google Store in the US.
