Set, cancel, or snooze alarms

You can make and change alarms in the Clock app.

Set an alarm

Set alarm time
  1. Open your device's Clock app Clock.
  2. At the top, tap Alarm.
  3. Pick an alarm.
    • To add an alarm, tap Add Add.
    • To reset an alarm, tap its current time.
  4. Set the alarm time.
    1. On the analog clock: Slide the hand to the hour you want. Then slide the hand to the minutes you want.
    2. On the digital clock: Enter the hour and minutes you want. 
    3. With the 12-hour format: Tap AM or PM.
  5.  Tap OK.
Turn alarm on or off
  1. Open your device's Clock app Clock.
  2. At the top, tap Alarm.
  3. On the alarm you want, tap the On/Off switch.

Tip: If the alarm is set to repeat, this turns all repeats on or off.

Change an alarm

Cancel or delete alarm
  1. Open your device's Clock app Clock.
  2. At the top, tap Alarm.
  3. On the alarm you want, tap the Down arrow Down arrow.
    • Cancel: To cancel an alarm scheduled to go off in the next 2 hours, tap Dismiss.
    • Delete: To permanently delete the alarm, tap Delete.
Change alarm sound or song

Use a sound

  1. Open your device's Clock app Clock.
  2. At the top, tap Alarm.
  3. On the alarm you want, tap the Down arrow Down arrow.
  4. Tap the current sound's name.
  5. Choose a sound:
    • Pick a sound from the list: Tap it.
    • Use your own sound file: If you've download a sound file to your device, tap Add new. Then tap your sound file. Learn where to find your files.

Use a song from YouTube Music, Pandora, or Spotify

Note: Pandora alarms only work in the US.

  1. If you haven't yet, download the YouTube Music, Pandora, or Spotify app. Learn how to download apps.
  2. Open the app and sign in to your account. Learn how to open apps.
  3. Open your device's Clock app Clock.
  4. At the top, tap Alarm.
  5. On the alarm you want, tap the Down arrow Down arrow.
  6. Tap the current sound's name.
  7. Next to "Sounds," tap YouTube Music, Pandora, or Spotify.
  8. Find a song you want to use, then tap it.
    • YouTube: To choose a song or album, use a premium account. Free accounts don't work with Clock.
    • Pandora: To choose a song, use a premium account. Plus and free accounts can choose stations. Free accounts might hear ads.
    • Spotify: To choose a song, use a premium account. Free accounts can choose playlists and might hear ads.
Change alarm name, repetition, or vibration
  1. Open your device's Clock app Clock.
  2. At the top, tap Alarm.
  3. On the alarm you want, tap the Down arrow Down arrow.
    • Name: To name the alarm, tap Label.
    • Repetition: To make the alarm repeat, tap Repeat and pick days of the week.
    • Vibration: To turn alarm vibrations off or on, tap Vibrate.
Add a Google Assistant Routine to an alarm

You can choose what the Assistant does when you dismiss an alarm, like tell you the weather and traffic, turn on the lights and the coffee machine, or play the news.

To see the option for a Google Assistant Routine in the clock, you’ll need:

Add a Google Assistant Routine

  1. Open your device’s Clock app Clock.
  2. At the top, tap Alarm.
  3. On the alarm you want, tap the Down arrow Down arrow.
  4. Next to Google Assistant Routine, tap Add Add.
  5. Choose the actions you want the Assistant to do.
    • To change: Tap Settings Settings.

To turn off an Assistant Routine: Next to the routine, tap Remove Remove.

Snooze or dismiss an alarm

When your alarm goes off, you can delay or stop it. If the alarm is set to repeat, it will still go off in the future.

  • Snooze: To delay an alarm for 10 minutes, on your lock screen, swipe left.
  • Dismiss: To stop an alarm, on your lock screen, swipe right.

You can change your snooze time and set your device's volume buttons to snooze or dismiss alarms. Learn how to change your Clock app settings.
