Important:
- Only Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold have this feature in Google Maps.
- This feature is only available in driving mode and doesn't support other travel modes like walking or cycling navigation.
With power-saving mode, you can access a simple, low-power map on your lock screen as you drive. This low-power map has key information on display, like next turns. Compared to the standard use of navigation in Google Maps, power-saving mode can significantly extend your phone's battery life.
How to use power-saving mode
Important: By default, power-saving mode is on.
- Open the Google Maps app

- To find your destination:
- In the search bar, enter your destination.
- Tap your destination on the map.
- To get driving directions, tap Driving
.
- Start driving navigation.
- To use the power-saving navigation map on your lock screen, after you start to navigate, press your phone's power button.
- To exit this mode, you can either tap the screen or press the power button again.
- To get back to the power-saving navigation map, press the power button again.

Important: You can only use power-saving mode in portrait orientation.
You can get more out of your battery while driving when you use power-saving mode in Google Maps. You'll get a simplified layout which only shows key information like next turns when you press the power button.
Authenticate and unlock your phone- While on power-saving mode, at the bottom of your screen, swipe up.
- To unlock your phone, use Face Unlock, fingerprint or passcode.
- Your phone unlocks to your homescreen.
