How to fix Maps when it crashes

If the Google Maps app on your phone or tablet crashes or has other issues that affect your experience on Maps, try the following steps:

• Update Google Maps.
• Clear storage in the Settings app on your device.

Update Google Maps

To use the most recent app features, download the latest version of the Google Maps app.

If you're signed in to your Google Account, update the Google Maps app directly from the Play Store.

If you’re not signed in to your Google Account:

1. On your Android phone or tablet, go to the Maps app in the Play store.
2. Tap Open in Play store app.
   • Avoid tapping 'install' or you'll be redirected to a sign-in sreen that doesn't allow skipping.
3. You'll be prompted to sign in.
4. At the top right, tap More   Updates.
5. Find 'Map – Navigate & Explore', then tap Update.

Clear the app's cache and data

1. Go to device Settings  Apps & notifications.
2. Tap See all apps  Maps  Storage and cache  Clear cache.
