Get your data ready for your new Pixel device

Important: You can only use this feature if you purchase your Pixel phone from the Google Store. If you purchase your phone outside the Google Store, you can download and use the Android Switch app.

After you purchase a new Pixel phone, you can prepare your data to quickly access it on your new device.

1. On the “Thank you” page, “Order history” or “Order details” page, or from the emails you receive, tap Start now or Get ready for your Pixel.
2. Select a Google Account.
3. Tap Continue.
4. Choose the data you want to back up.
5. Tap Turn on backup.
   • If you already have an existing backup arrangement for your phone, tap Confirm.
   • To manage your backups, tap Manage backup.
6. Tap Continue.

Tip: You can also start data preparation through email when you receive your order confirmation and other updates.

Scan a QR code to copy data from previous device to your new Pixel phone

From a mobile device to another mobile device

On your previous mobile device:

1. On the “Thank you” page, your “Order history” or “Order details” page, or from the emails you receive, tap Start now or Get ready for your Pixel.
2. Tap Sync data from another device.
3. Scan the QR code with the camera of the other device.
4. A check mark notification appears.
5. A notification message which says “Continue to another device” appears.

On your new Pixel phone:

1. To copy data, scan the QR code that appears on the actual device.
2. Select a Google Account.

From a desktop to a mobile device

1. On the “Thank you” page, your “Order history” or “Order details” page, or from the emails you receive, tap Start now or Get ready for your Pixel.
2. Scan the QR code with the camera of your mobile device.
3. Select a Google Account.

Send a link to prepare other user’s data

If you purchased a Pixel phone for a family or friend, you can send them a link to help them prepare their data.

1. On your order confirmation, order history, or order details, tap Start now or Get ready for your Pixel.
2. Tap Sync data from another device Share link.
3. Choose the app where you want to send the link.
4. Proceed to send the link to your family or friend.
5. Once they receive the link, inform them to follow the on-screen instructions.

Tip: You can also get the link through email when you receive your order confirmation and other updates.
