Get your data ready for your new Pixel device

After you purchase a new Pixel phone, you can prepare your data to quickly access it on your new device.

Contact Pixel onboarding help

1. On the “Thank you,” “Order history,” or “Order details” page, or from the emails you receive, tap Start now or Get ready for your Pixel.
2. Select the Google Account you want to use with your new Pixel device.
3. If asked, select the Pixel you want to transfer data to.
   • If you purchased your Pixel from the Google Store, your new Pixel is automatically selected.
4. Review your photo and video backup options with Google Photos.
   • If you don’t have Google Photos installed, you must download it.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to back up your photos and videos.
6. If asked, update your iOS version to the latest available. This will enable more data to transfer automatically.
   • If your iPhone is unable to receive the latest update, you will get additional on-screen instructions to transfer password data.

Tip: You can transfer any remaining data once your new Pixel phone arrives.

Copy data from a different device with a QR code

If you order your phone or receive a welcome email on a different device other than the one you plan to transfer from, you can use a QR code to get your data ready for your new Pixel.

On desktop:

1. On the “Thank you” page, your “Order history” or “Order details” page, or from the emails you receive, tap Start now or Get ready for your Pixel.
2. Scan the QR code with the camera of the mobile device you want to transfer data from.
3. Select a Google Account.

On mobile:

1. On the “Thank you” page, your “Order history” or “Order details” page, or from the emails you receive, tap Start now or Get ready for your Pixel.
2. Tap Sync data from another device.
3. Scan the QR code with the camera of the device you want to transfer data from.

Send a link to prepare other user’s data

If you purchased a Pixel phone for a family or friend, you can send them a link to help them prepare their data.

1. On your order confirmation, order history, or order details, tap Start now or Get ready for your Pixel.
2. Tap Sync data from another device Share link.
3. Choose the app where you want to send the link.
4. Proceed to send the link to your family or friend.
5. Once they receive the link, inform them to follow the on-screen instructions.

Tip: You can also get the link through email when you receive your order confirmation and other updates.
