Convert a physical SIM to an eSIM

You can convert a physical SIM to an eSIM on the same device if you no longer want to rely on a physical card.

Important: To use this feature you need to:

• Check which wireless carriers offer cellular plans on an eSIM for Pixel in your country or region. Learn how to find worldwide wireless carriers and service providers of eSIM.
• Use Pixel 8 or later devices including Fold.
• Connect to Wi-fi.

Convert to an eSIM on your device

1. Open your device’s Settings app.
2. Tap Network & internet SIMs.
3. Select the SIM that you want to convert.
4. Scroll down your SIM settings.
5. Tap Convert to eSIM.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Once you convert your physical SIM to an eSIM, your physical SIM will no longer work. You can discard your physical SIM once you verify your new eSIM works.

If you need a new physical SIM after your conversion, you must contact your carrier to re-issue one.
