USB serial devices not enumerating

I am trying to use a USB serial device with the pixel book for embedded applications and none of them enumerate. I have tried FTDI cables, and Arduino, and a cypress adapter (All of which work on my dedicated linux machine) . I have tried with a standard USB C to A adapter as well as a USB C hub (the hub does enumerate).

In the end I need to be able to make these serial connections available to linux, but right now I dont even see them showing up on the Chrome OS side.

Hi Jason,

What application(s) are you trying to use with the USB serial device? I just connected a standard USB-serial cable to the A-to-C adapter that came with my phone, and plugged that into the side of my Pixelbook. A serial terminal emulator like Beagle Term is then able to detect the interface:

Is that not working for you?

And right now, the Linux (Beta) feature only supports Android USB devices. It would be great if we can eventually pass through any arbitrary USB-connected devices to the Linux environment but I don't know if that will actually happen.

Cheers,
John

Same issue as above w Pixelbook 2017. Within developer mode , opening a terminal and listing usb devices reveals an error.

lsusb

displays any usb disk inserted with IDs; however,

ls /dev/tty*

displays no usb presence or

ls /dev/ttyUSB

displays error to filepath. starting to think I purchased a damaged pixelbook.
